Recent Smart Grid Reports. Hannah Bentley, APC, Esq., Municipal and Environmental Law. Internet Mapping Project. The Internet Mapping Project was started at Bell Labs in the summer of 1998. Its goal is to acquire and save Internet topological data over a long period of time. This data has been used in the study of routing problems and changes, DDoS attacks, and graph theory. In the fall of 2000, Ches and Hal moved to a spin-off from Lucent/Bell Labs named Lumeta Corporation.

This company applies our topological discovery techniques to discover the perimeter of our clients' intranets. Both Hal and Ches have moved on from Lumeta. I no longer runs the Internet Mapping Project. I am not sure what Lumeta is doing with it, if anything. Introduction This mapping consists of frequent traceroute-style path probes, one to each registered Internet entity.

These paths change over time, as routes reconfigure and the Internet grows. The simple layout algorithm produces some nice maps. Maps This data yields a large graph. We have made some maps from this layout. Here is a .gif of the layout appearing in Wired. Uses. World Carshare Cities Inventories. Anything missing? Errors in the listings? This is the place to let us know. Back to top This of course is a pretty severe geography lesson for those of us who cannot at first glance figure out which places is where, but help is available. Click here to go to our combined search engine Knoogle World Carshare 1.0 (KNOwledge + goOGLE). Click to Knoogle here > > > The above by no means covers the full field of carshare implementations. This list does not by the way represent the number of carsharing organizations (CSO's), since some operators serve more than one community. You will also find real value in the international coverage of the Car Sharing Network. And if for some reason none of that works, then all you have to do is drop a line which will reach our hundreds of carshare friends and collaborators world wide at Worldcarshare@yahoogroups.com.

Home [Monocle] TRANSUMERS | Consumers driven by experiences. First published: November 2006 | Back in 2003, when we first spoke of TRANSUMERS and TRANSUMERISM (crediting global design and business consultancy Fitch for coining the term), the focus for this trend was solely on consumers in transition, i.e. travelers, and the many novel and innovative shopping opportunities at airports, train stations and hotels catering to this crowd. And while that part of TRANSUMERISM is still evolving (see some of the new examples from various airports further down in this briefing), it’s time to expand the TRANSUMERS trend/theme to non-travel, as consumers are slowly but certainly mirroring travel behavior in daily life.

After all, in our Experience Economy, the temporary, the transient, is increasingly being valued if not worshipped on a daily basis. * We recommend you read Gilles Lipovetsky’s Hypermodern Times for a deeply insightful take on consumers' pervasive obsession with the here-and-now. To most consumers, travel equates to temporary freedom. Fashion. The cluetrain manifesto. GLOBE: Home. South Florida Business Journal: Local Business News | ExplainingComputers.com by Christopher Barnatt. About Microformats. Designed for humans first and machines second, microformats are a set of simple, open data formats built upon existing and widely adopted standards. Instead of throwing away what works today, microformats intend to solve simpler problems first by adapting to current behaviors and usage patterns (e.g. XHTML, blogging). Microformats are: A way of thinking about dataDesign principles for formatsAdapted to current behaviors and usage patterns (“Pave the cow paths.”)Highly correlated with semantic XHTML, AKA the real world semantics, AKA lowercase semantic web, AKA lossless XHTMLA set of simple open data format standards that many are actively developing and implementing for more/better structured blogging and web microcontent publishing in general.
