Cork Board ~ DIY Project | Inspiration I created this cork board for my recent sale, but decided to keep it for myself. The instant love connection was just too tight to let go! Here was my inspiration photo: from Houzz: Three Men and a Lady. I can't seem to locate the before photo of the frame - but think dirty and gold, yes, very dirty and very gold. After I spray painted it white, I gathered some cork board and foam core I had on hand. I simply cut the cork and foam core to size and glued them together. I then wrapped it in burlap and fell in love! For the thumbtacks I glued these magnets ($2 each from Michaels) onto thumbtacks...fun and super easy! A bit of green :: Crafts :: Plastic Cup Lamp. Now that my university is closed for winter holidays, I finally have more free time to do all the crafty things I’ve been wanting to. One of these is a lamp made from plastic cups I’ve seen at taf, the art foundation, in the Monastiraki region in the center of Athens.
When I first saw it at taf, I was amazed; I looked closely and I couldn’t believe my eyes! The object itself is so peculiar, modern and alien-like it could be in any design exhibition. With my best friend’s birthday coming up, I decided to make it myself and give it to her as a gift. It turns out it was the easiest craft I’ve even done, the epitome of DIY objects! We only use this lamp when we’re at home, so we have it under surveillance.

Next remove the black glass. Now you will be able to see the interior parts of the light bulb. Using the flathead screwdriver as a sort of lever, snap the interior tube from the side. I started with a 1×8 board from Lowe’s that I cut to about 2′ long. I used a different paint method on this board and I love how it turned out so I am going to share it with you in my next post. So for now… Here is my board after it is painted and ready to go. I also purchased 3 hooks and a pipe clamp from Lowe’s. You can find the pipe clamps in the plumbing section. My next step was attaching them to my board. Then it was time to attach the clamp. I used a 3/4″ wood screw to attach it to my board. Finally, I added to picture hangers to the back of it and hung it up.
