Beamsplitters, DST series

The input surfaces of our beam splitters are vacuum coated with a neutral, dielectric thin film coating, which determines the ratio of the transmitted light "T" to the by 45° reflected light "R". Soda-lime glass. Reusable soda-lime glass milk bottles Old window made from soda-lime flat glass, Jena, Germany: The distorted reflections of a tree indicates that the flat glass was possibly not made by the float glass process.

Soda-lime glass

Soda-lime glass, also called soda-lime-silica glass, is the most prevalent type of glass, used for windowpanes and glass containers (bottles and jars) for beverages, food, and some commodity items. Glass bakeware is often made of tempered soda-lime glass.[1] Soda-lime glass accounts for about 90% of manufactured glass. Soda-lime glass is relatively inexpensive, chemically stable, reasonably hard, and extremely workable. Because it can be resoftened and remelted numerous times, it is ideal for glass recycling.[2] UV Fused Silica Broadband Plate Beamsplitters (Coating: 250 - 450 nm) Fused quartz. A fused quartz sphere manufactured for use in a gyroscope in the Gravity Probe B experiment.

Fused quartz

It is one of the most accurate spheres ever manufactured, deviating from a perfect sphere by no more than 40 atoms of thickness. It is thought that only neutron stars are smoother. Production[edit] Feedstock[edit] Fused quartz is produced by fusing (melting) high-purity silica sand, which consists of quartz crystals. Fusion[edit] Melting is effected using at approximately 2000 °C using either an electrically heated furnace (electrically fused) or a gas/oxygen-fuelled furnace (flame fused). Product quality[edit] Fused quartz is normally transparent, the process of fusion results in a material that is translucent. Applications[edit] Most of the applications of fused silica exploit its wide transparency range, which extends from the UV to the near IR.

The combination of strength, thermal stability, and UV transparency makes it an excellent substrate for projection masks for photolithography. Fused Silica. Fused Silica (FS) Fused Silica is a high purity synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide.

Fused Silica

This noncrystalline, colorless, silica glass combines a very low thermal expansion coefficient with excellent optical qualities and exceptional transmittance over a wide spectral range, especially in the ultraviolet. It is resistant to scratching and thermal shock. Fused silica is available in a number of grades for different applications. One of the important applications is High Energy Laser Optics.
