This thesis is intended to know whether cartoon films can enhance young learners’ speaking skill and what happens when cartoon films are used in teaching and learning process’ The researcher conducted a classroom action research from March 3rd, to April 28th, 2008 at the fifth grade of SD Muhammadiyah I Ketelan Surakarta.

Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that using cartoon film in teaching English does improve the students’ speaking skill. Is 18.75, the t-test computation of post test 1 and post test 2 is 8.42, and the t-test computation of pre test and post test 2 is 33.81, are higher than the tt (2.02) which show a significant difference between the students’ test scores.
