GOP scrambles under allegations of rampant voter. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is back on track after winning the Maine caucuses. What the headlines haven't told you is that what happened in Maine is the messiest caucus Republicans have had so far, and it may not be over yet. Maine, is not a major state during national primaries. Only 24 delegates come out of Maine to the national convention. But what happened there over the weekend does more than raise eyebrows. It is enough to make you question, was the caucus fixed? Saturday night, February 11, the head of the Maine GOP, Charlie Webster, announced that Governor Mitt Romney won the Maine caucus by a slim margin. Official totals read Romney barely winning the caucus by less than 200 votes.

The only problem, the governor was declared the winner with only 84 percent of precincts counted. Two counties, Washington County and Hancock County had not yet held their caucuses. The big problem here, Mr. "February 11, that was election day. You heard right. Still, Mr. Santorum, Romney and Gingrich vow to enforce anti-porn laws. By Eric W. DolanMonday, February 13, 2012 17:38 EDT Republican presidential candidates Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich have all told the group Morality in Media that they would enforce federal obscenity laws that prohibit the distribution of pornography.

Those laws, the anti-pornography group said, are being ignored by the current administration. “Federal obscenity laws should be vigorously enforced,” Santorum told the group. “If elected President, I will appoint an Attorney General who will do so.” Romney told the group it was “imperative that we cultivate the promotion of fundamental family values.” “This can be accomplished with increased parental involvement and enhanced supervision of our children,” he said in a statement. “It includes strict enforcement of our nation’s obscenity laws, as well as the promotion of parental software controls that guard our children from Internet pornography.”

NRA official: Obama wants to outlaw guns in 2nd term. A top official with the National Rifle Association said Friday that President Obama will move to “destroy” gun rights and “erase” the Second Amendment if he is re-elected in November. While delivering one of the liveliest and best-received speeches at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said the president’s low-key approach to gun rights during his first term was “a “conspiracy to ensure re-election by lulling gun owners to sleep.” “All that first term, lip service to gun owners is just part of a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and hide his true intentions to destroy the Second Amendment during his second term,” he said. “We see the president’s strategy crystal clear: Get re-elected and, with no more elections to worry about, get busy dismantling and destroying our firearms’ freedom, erase the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights and excise it from the U.S.

Constitution.” Mr. Mr. Russia may build more nuclear power plants in Iran. Russia is studying an Iranian proposal to build more reactors at the Bushehr nuclear power plant, the head of Russia's state-controlled nuclear corporation, Rosatom, said on Thursday. "We are currently studying the proposal, as the international community has no concerns about the construction of nuclear power generation units," Rosatom head Sergei Kiriyenko said. The project, if approved, would require amendments to an intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Iran, he said. A nuclear energy industry expert, editor-in-chief of the Atominfo news portal Alexander Uvarov, said that the 1992 Russian-Iranian intergovernmental agreement envisaged the construction of four nuclear reactors in the country. "As far as I remember, the intergovernmental agreement envisages the construction of four NPP units," the expert said.

Michigan Senator Condemns 'Republican License To Bully' As 'Worse Than Doing Nothing' By Zack Ford on November 3, 2011 at 11:25 am "Michigan Senator Condemns ‘Republican License To Bully’ As ‘Worse Than Doing Nothing’" Yesterday, the Michigan Republican-controlled Senate passed a “license to bully” bill, which not only neglects to protect students based on sexual orientation or gender identity, but creates a special exception for bullies who have a “sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction.”

Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer (D) delivered an impassioned speech rebuking the Republicans for “explicitly outlining how to get away with bullying”: WHITMER: So this might solve a political problem that Republicans have. but be clear: You are papering over the problem that is a reality faced by hundreds of kids in Michigan schools every day. In fact, not only does this not protect kids who are bullied, it further endangers them by legitimizing excuses for tormenting a student. Watch her full remarks: Santorum: ‘I’ll die’ to stop same sex marriages. By David EdwardsFriday, October 21, 2011 16:23 EDT Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is deadly serious about stopping gays from getting married.

Earlier this week, the former Pennsylvania senator told Caffeinated Thoughts that he would be willing to “die” in the fight against marriage equality. “The battle we’re engaged in right now is same sex marriage, ultimately that is the very foundation of our country, the family, what the family structure is going to look like,” Santorum explained. “I’ll die on that hill.” The candidate later went on to explain that sex between a man and a woman is “special,” and even birth control is “not OK.” “We’ll repeal Obamacare and get rid any idea that you have to have abortion coverage or contraceptive coverage,” he said. Santorum continued: “They’re supposed to be within marriage. “I know most presidents don’t talk about those things, and maybe people don’t want us to talk about those things. Too Much of a Bad Thing: Monsanto Did NOT Buy Blackwater. Featured Published on October 16th, 2010 | by Jeremy Bloom UPDATE: Blackwater/Xe has been sold – via a shell company and a pair of private equity firms. So… does this mean Monsanto has actually bought in to Blackwater? Read our follow-up, “Did Monstanto Finally Buy Blackwater? There’s No Way to Know”. How do Internet lies get spread? Monsanto is one of the worst companies in the world, so it should come as no surprise that they hired an arm of Xe (the mercenary company formerly known as Blackwater) to dig up dirt on anti-GMO activists.

Fortunately, and contrary to a number of reports circulation on the internet, the world’s biggest purveyor of genetically modified seeds that has been doing its best to destroy traditional farming from Iowa to Iraq did NOT decide it needed to purchase its own mercenary army. Here’s what happened: Jeremy Scahill wrote a comprehensive take-down on Xe/Blackwater, based on internal emails, in The Nation. The Nation article says: That means Xe was hired by Monsanto. Herman Cain Unaware China Has Nuclear Weapons. On the PBS 'News Hour' Tuesday evening, GOP candidate Herman Cain showed a lack of foreign policy understanding when asked by host Judy Woodruff about China (video below). “Yes, they’re a military threat, they’ve indicated that they’re trying to develop nuclear capabilities, so yes, we have to consider them a military threat,” Cain said. However, the fact is China has had nuclear weapons since 1964. On Sunday, Cain compared his lack of knowledge on foreign policy knowledge to his lack of knowledge of pizza, when he joined Godfather's Pizza. On the video from PBS, Cain’s comments on China begin at the 11:35 mark. He also says the sexual harrassment claims against him are "baseless" and still believes that he can win the Republican nomination. FDA Says Walnuts Are Illegal Drugs. Life Extension® has published 57 articles that describe the health benefits of walnuts. Some of this same scientific data was featured on the website of Diamond Foods, Inc., a distributor of packaged walnuts. Last year the FDA determined that walnuts sold by Diamond Foods cannot be legally marketed because the walnuts “are not generally recognized as safe and effective” for the medical conditions referenced on Diamond Foods’s website.

According to the FDA, these walnuts were classified as “drugs” and the “unauthorized health claims” cause them to become “misbranded,” thus subjecting them to government “seizure or injunction.” Diamond Foods capitulated and removed statements about the health benefits of walnuts from its website. Let’s take a look at the science supporting the consumption of walnuts to see what the FDA censored…and what you can do to stop it in the future! Eating Walnuts Cuts Heart Disease Risk Ingesting nuts used to be considered unhealthy because of their high fat content. Anti-Gay Alabama AG Troy King Caught in Gay Affair. Troy King (R), the Attorney General of Alabama and an outspoken gay-basher, has reportedly been caught having a sexual affair with a male aide. Troy King, who in the past has tried to outlaw homosexuality and sex toys, was apparently found by his wife in their bed having sex with a male aide.

Although the reports are still rumors, there are some details that make the affair seem almost too juicy to be true. For example, the aide with whom Troy King is supposedly the affair was the prom king at Troy University. Some point the finger at Alabama Governor Bob Riley for starting the rumor. This makes sense seeing as Troy King is a potential gubernatorial candidate.

Reports say that Troy King was banished from his home when his wife found him with a man in their bed. Sources: Michelle Bachmann Signs Pledge that Says Black Children Better Off During Slavery. In Iowa, there’s a social conservative pledge called “The Marriage Vow – A Declaration of Dependence upon Marriage and Family” that is anti-abortion, anti-same sex marriage, anti-divorce etc etc that GOP candidates are being urged to sign. It’s got some pretty rigid-sounding stuff, but there’s also this extra-special piece : Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA’s first African-American President. Given that families were broken up regularly for sales during slavery and that rape by masters was pretty common, this could not be more offensive.

I mean, putting aside the statistics on this, which are likely off-base, I could not be more angry. When will Republicans inquire with actual Black people whether or not we’re ok with invoking slavery to score cheap political points? War Powers Act Doesn’t Apply for Libya, Obama Says.
