Adding Atmosphere to Architectural Environments. In this tutorial we will discuss the techniques needed to add atmosphere to an architectural environment in Photoshop. We will use an atmospheric sunset in an urban environment to give this architectural visualisation a more stylised effect. To begin with I am going to start with this base render from 3D Studio Max and have added a few textures to the road and other areas that didn’t render as well. Next I added this subtle sunset image to the render. I then placed the sky layer beneath the rendered layer. As the sky lacked any detail I then added an image of some clouds I liked and felt would look right in the visual. Next I masked out the areas of unwanted cloud using a soft brush on a layer mask on the cloud layer.

Once I had selected where the light source would be coming from I needed to darken areas of the rendered image. Creating a Realistic Cityscape. Photo Effects. Text Effects.
