The MAXIAVALANCHE in Vallnord, Andorra is the start of the Enduro Downhill Marathon season. The Maxiavalanche has been held in Vallnord for 13 years and has built up a strong reputation for being one of the best mountain bike destinations. 500 riders took part in this weekend long event of hardcore riding! Riders lining up for the start of racing The race is designed to be accessible by both professionals and amateurs alike, with 5 rounds of qualifying taking place on the Saturday allowing riders of all levels to compete against each other.
Only the fastest 100 riders would get to compete in the Maxiavalanche European Cup race the following day. There were many big names taking part in this event including Cédric Gracia (CG Brigade). Sundays main race would contain several of Enduros best riders, Yoann Barelli, Cédric Gracia, Bryan Regnier and Damien Oton to name a few. Ooh my, I thought going down hill alone was a real challenge.... The start was at the Pic de Cubil at 2833 meters high to La Massana at about 1500 meters and the races will be spread from Saturday for the qualifying until Sunday with two rounds in each group. Comme chaque année, l’Euro Cup réunit la crème des riders. Dans cette épreuve, c’est Damien Oton qui s’est montré le plus fort, en surclassant les deux manches dans l'épreuve scratch hommes. Le local Cédric Gracia finit deuxième et Yoann Barelli termine à la troisième place. Karim Amour, qui avait remporté l’épreuve l’an dernier, termine de son côté à la cinquième place. Dans la catégorie challengers, c’est l’Espagnol Aleix Puig Nonell qui se classe en première position. A vincere è stato il portacolori del team Devinci/All Tricks, Damien OTON, in sella alla nuova Devinci Spartan. Alle sue spalle il “local” Cedric GRACIA – in testa nella prima manche ma poi sorpassato in salita (mentre ha vinto la seconda manche) – e Yoann BARELLI. E’ partito lo scorso week-end il circuito Maxiavalanche, con la prima gara disputata a Vallnord, nel Principato di Andorra. La vittoria è andata a Damien Oton, che si è imposto sul rider locale Cedric Gracia e Yoann Barelli. Tra le donne successo di Nadine Sapin, davanti a Emilie Serre e Lea Giraud Marcellin.
