At the end of the last working week, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Company reported that it would strengthen its executive leadership at Sault St. Mari. This work is carried out by appointing Esther Zdolek as the Senior Vice President of the Crown Agency, People and Culture. Mr. Zdolek will take over the role in the Sault St. Mari office from January 16, 2023.
Mr Zdolek is more than qualified for the role as he has previously served as vice president of organizational effectiveness and human resources at Peterborough Fleming University. In that role she was responsible for the full range of human resources and labor relations services for the institution. She also served as vice president of infrastructure human resources in Ontario
The chairman and CEO of OLG welcomed Mr. Zdolek to the organization. He said OLG was pleased to have appointed a new vice president, People & Culture, to work in the wonderful community of Salt Steemari. Her appointment follows Crown's commitment to strengthen the leadership position of management in the community.
In addition to serving executive roles in both the public and private sectors, Mr. Zdolek served as vice president of human resources at the Canadian Atomic Energy Research Institute, and senior vice president of human resources at Candu Energy and SNC-Lavalin. Early in her career she also worked for the crown as a human resources manager for Sault St. Marie.
OLG believes that Ms. Zdolek's commitment to the workplace culture, empowering and growing staff, and promoting diversity and inclusion will prove essential to her new role. As one of the best senior staff in the office, she will help Crown continue to create good local jobs by increasing our workforce, collaborating with organizations and businesses, and sponsoring community projects.
Mr. Zdolek himself said he was happy to rejoin OLG in his new role and would like to return to the headquarters. She argued that OLG has a good reputation as an employer and now expects to play a role in building the Crown's successful culture at Sault St. Marie. The plan is to develop OLG's talented workforce in the city.
The news of Mr. Zdolek's appointment as Senior Vice President of People and Culture at Sault Ste came shortly after Mayor Matthew Shoemaker urged all OLG jobs to be in the city. It commented that the absence of all OLG jobs at Sault's headquarters was irresponsible with taxpayer money and took a step back from what the government promised in 1987.
In the spirit of the upcoming winter vacation, OLG recently reminded parents and adults in the province not to buy lottery tickets as gifts for children and minors. The Crown Agency has warned that it is important for parents to understand that there are risks and impacts associated with underage gambling. That's why they urged people under the age of 18 not to give lottery tickets.
