The term "virginity" is neither a medical or scientific phrase, according to a WHO report asking for a ban on virginity tests. Instead, the idea of "virginity" represents gender discrimination against women and girls as a social, cultural, and religious construct. The preconception that female libido should be restrained inside marriage underlies the societal expectation that girls and women should remain "virgins" (i.e., without engaging in sexual activity). Globally, this idea is destructive to women and girls using blood capsules.
