Prostate Cancer and Pomegranate July 5, 2006 -- A glass of pomegranate juice a day may keep prostate cancerprostate cancer recurrence away, UCLA researchers report. Treatment cures two out of three men with early prostatecancercancer. But after treatment, a third of men have rising levels of prostate-specific antigen -- PSA -- in their blood. Cancer-fighting chemicals are found in many foods. Pantuck's team enrolled 46 men in a study funded by the owners of POM Wonderful Co., the maker of the pomegranate juice used in the study. The men's overall PSA doubling time was nearly four times slower after they began drinking pomegranate juice. "I was surprised when I saw such an improvement in PSA numbers," Pantuck said, in a news release. Pantuck says that pomegranate juice may allow 65- to 70-year-old men treated for prostate cancer to outlive their risk of dying from their cancer. Prostate cancer patients with rising PSA levels usually opt for treatment with drugs that block testosterone.

3-Dimensional Holographic Display A holographic display is a form of projection that creates a simulated three-dimensional representation via light diffraction. Holographic displays differ from other types of 3D displays as they don’t demand the usage of specialized eyeglasses or other external apparatus to perceive the image. Display solutions now play a critical role in both industrial and commercial processes. Data, communication, visualization of industrial processes, and education have all benefited from the use of displays. The unceasing digital revolution movement is driving the development of new technologies, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), digital twins, and computer vision. All these technologies rely on visual displays to some measure. Displays are typically two-dimensional, limiting the device’s potential to depict a real-life picture or video of a situation as seen by human vision. 3-Dimensional (3D) Display Origin and Applications 3D Holographic Display and Services Shaping the Future
JuxtaposeJS - Knight Lab Projects What it does JuxtaposeJS helps journalists tell stories by comparing two frames, including photos and gifs. It’s an adaptable storytelling tool that is ideal for highlighting then/now stories that explain slow changes over time (growth of a city skyline, regrowth of a forest, etc.) or before/after stories that show the impact of single dramatic events (natural disasters, protests, wars, etc.). By way of example, look at the change Sochi underwent between 2005 and 2013: JuxtaposeJS is free, easy to use, and open source. Almost anyone can use JuxtaposeJS, so long as you’ve got links to two similar pieces of media (hosted on your own server or on Flickr). You’ve probably seen similar photo slider tools elsewhere. It also offers some customization out of the box. JuxtaposeJS joins four other tools in Publishers’ Toolbox, which we hope makes the suite of tools even more useful for journalists looking for quick-to-deploy, easy-to-use storytelling tools.
