Amy compiled us an amazing guide full of her Japan tips to help us plan for our trip there next month and it was too good not to share some of her advice with you. Ah Japan, irasshaimase! Welcome to the land where everything, just works. The land of convenience, the land of delicious food, paradox, naked strangers, and where respect permeates through every part of society and culture… In Japan the food can be described as clean and minimalist, but never simple, which probably sums up Japan as a whole. Uh-huh, they have the fastest, sleekest, most efficient trains (ever!) Here are some tips to get the most out of a trip to Japan. Before You Arrive No visa requirements for most nationalities for stays of up to 90 days but have a return flight out, as they WILL grill you upon arrival. Genjutsu - Ilusiones diarias Fortune Cookies I've been wanting to make fortune cookies for some time now. So, when I had chicken and vegetable stir-fry on the menu this week, I decided it was time to find a recipe and give it a try. I looked through Tastespotting and found this recipe from Martha Stewart on several blogs. I also read over everyone's tips for making these, which was very, very helpful. I wrote up cute little sayings that my son could read. The cookies continue to cool in the muffin pan which helps them keep their shape. We loved how these cookies tasted...way better (fresher) than anything from your local take out place. IngredientsMakes about 15 cookies (this is 1/2 of the original recipe) 2.5 tablespoons unsalted butter2 large egg whites1/2 cup superfine sugar1/2 cup all-purpose flour, siftedPinch of salt1.5 tablespoons heavy cream1/2 teaspoon almond extract Directions Heat oven to 375 degrees. In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine egg whites and sugar, and beat on medium speed, about 30 seconds.
