Homepage for the Anatomy Lesson This site has been moved to a new server here I will approach this study of human anatomy by regions as shown below: This is commonly called a regional approach to the study of anatomy. Another approach would be the systemic approach, which takes a look at each system separately (vascular, respiratory, etc.) Each lesson will point out various structures found in the particular region being examined and then followed by a review of what has been covered. When we study the THORACIC, ABDOMINAL, and PELVIC cavities, the above list will also include the various organs. Some images are adapted from "A New System of Anatomy, Sir Solly Zuckerman, Oxford Press, 1961". Some images are adapted from "Photographic Atlas of the Human Body", Vidic, Branislav, and Suarez, Faustino. Any suggestions or additions, please contact me at E-Mail

3quarksdaily: Human Genome Project Information Completed in 2003, the Human Genome Project (HGP) was a 13-year project coordinated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Institutes of Health. During the early years of the HGP, the Wellcome Trust (U.K.) became a major partner; additional contributions came from Japan, France, Germany, China, and others. Project goals were to identify all the approximately 20,500 genes in human DNA,determine the sequences of the 3 billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA,store this information in databases, improve tools for data analysis, transfer related technologies to the private sector, andaddress the ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI) that may arise from the project. Though the HGP is finished, analyses of the data will continue for many years. Explore the Project's History Starting points include Human Genome News: This 13-year publication facilitated HGP communication, helped prevent duplication of research effort, and informed persons interested in genome research.

This site is being developed as classes proceed. The photos are of cadavers that I dissected. There are a few photos of bones as well as a living person. I hope to have photos of all the parts of the body on this site by September next year. I would love to have your comments/suggestions.
