Inspiration Board: Pewter & Rose « Cap Classique – Cape Town South Africa wedding blog Today’s board is another reader request – my favourite kind! Natasha emailed looking for help with her chosen palette of pewter with a rose or dusty pink. She’d had trouble finding an inspiration board using these colours that embodied the romantic elegance she was looking for from her wine farm wedding, with a touch of formality. I have to say, I LOVE these colours! Pink and grey are very hot right now, but there are many different shades of both colours to work with and pewter is absolutely gorgeous. I think the colours on their own embody the romantic (pink) combined with the more formal and elegant (pewter), which will really help to create the atmosphere Natasha wants. There are some key foundations to the look I’ve built up here. Natasha also asked about favours, as she’s considering white fans for the ladies but is a bit stumped for the boys. Hope you like your board, Natasha! Colours: Dusky pink, white and pewter

A Fun DIY Idea To Keep Kids Entertained At Weddings This is such a simple yet brilliant idea… All you need is a printer, some card, pencils and a disposable camera! {via Martha Stewart Weddings} Send children on a photo scavenger hunt with this game of i-spy! They have to spot a variety of typical wedding day occurrences / outfits and tick them off on their list. {I recommend using pencils rather than felt tips as you could end up with felt tip stains all over their hands, clothes and the table cloths ~ and you wouldn’t want felt tips anywhere near your pristine white dress!} If you wanted to, you could provide a little incentive such as a small bag of sweets or a pound shop toy for the first child to find all the things on the list or simply give the treats to the children’s parents for them to hand out as they see fit. Staying focused on this task will be tricky for some children ~ especially younger children so parent’s could reward them when they feel they’ve tried their best. Here’s a larger version:
{real couple} Marissa + Brandon at Nestldown A rainbow of origami cranes suspended above the alter at Marissa and Brandon’s September wedding at a private retreat called Nestldown in Campbell, California, has to be one of my all-time favorite examples of DIY wedding creativity. rhee bevere photography captured all of the playful, colorful details of their wedding, including bouquets and boutonnieres made from buttons, pinwheel centerpieces and an ice cream truck! Marissa folded every one of those cranes by hand – totaling 1001! She says, I really wanted to go against the rules of choosing two or three colors and using those for EVERYTHING. I was a little worried that using so many colors would turn into a circus, but I really think that colors can affect a person’s mood, so I wanted to play with that. I really wanted to take people out of their typical wedding mindset, and allow them to really have fun. Many thanks to rhee bevere photography for sharing all the colorful whimsy and beauty of Marissa and Brandon’s wedding! Credits
43 DIY Wedding Projects For The Budget Bride | Austin Wedding | Austin Wedding Blog Staying within your wedding budget is hard. As a newlywed, I can't count how many times we had to do some "adjusting" to our wedding spending so we wouldn't completely destroy our agreed-upon wedding budget. After some long chats and compromises, I can proudly say, we succeeded. The main way that we cut costs was to take on some DIY wedding projects. Good luck and I'd love to know which one of these projects inspires you! How-To: Make Your Own Mini Vase in Under 30 Seconds » Curbly | DIY Design Community « Keywords: DIY, Craft, Inspiration, vases Quick! Can you guess what this tiny bud vase is made from? I'll give you one clue: with the right moves, it can be turned into an animal*. Now you're really curious, aren't you? This modern, ceramic-looking vase can be made in well under 30 seconds and only requires two materials: a 2" glass votive holder and a BALLOON. Camilla Fabbri from Family Chic created these clever little vases by snipping off the mouth of a balloon, leaving about an inch of the neck, and then slipping the balloon over the votive holder. DIY Bridesmaids Cards | DIY Wedding Blog I love the idea of formally asking those whom you would like to be in your bridal party. I sent out a cards for my own wedding so that inspired me to come up with a cute project to do the same. I adore the paper chain people that we all learned to make in grade school and this project uses that simple concept to introduce your bridesmaids to everyone. Cut out the shape of the dress you plan on using in the color you desire and personalize each person with some paper hair. To complete the set I created a little card asking “Will you be my bridesmaid?” and included the wedding details as well as how and where to order the dresses. Enjoy! Anna of Rifle Design Supplies: 1. craft paper (for clothes & hair), 2. paper for bodies, 3. envelopes, 4. ruler, 5. scissors, 6. pencil, eraser & a glue stick Directions: First, be sure that your chain will fit in the envelope you chose. Cut out your rectangle and score the paper vertically between each set of tick marks. Resources:
