GMail Drive shell extension

GMail Drive shell extension
GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google Mail account, allowing you to use Gmail as a storage medium. GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem on top of your Google Gmail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your Gmail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. GMail Drive literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy and drag'n'drop files to. Ever since Google started to offer users a Gmail e-mail account, which includes storage space of 15000 megabytes, you have had plenty of storage space but not a lot to fill it up with. Because the Gmail files will clutter up your Inbox folder, you may wish to create a filter in Gmail to automatically move the files (prefixed with the GMAILFS letters in the subject) to your archived mail folder. Please note that GMail Drive is still an experimental tool. Installation Requirements Installation Guide

GTD with Google's New Calendar | Isaac Bowman See my Productivity & GTD page for other great ideas like a free Blackberry GTD solution! Earlier today Lifehack posted a link to a list of 15 GTD applications. This motivated me to write about something that I have been putting off for a while. Please note that I am not saying that using a hard calendar entry is the best form of GTD. Google Mobile now has a Blackberry sync tool for your mobile Calendar! As a huge fan of Gmail, I have been waiting for CL2 for what seems like years. Something else I have been looking into is hosting my own GTD web-app, but now that CL2 is here why not use it for everything? So here is how I implement GTD into CL2 and end up with one web-based tool that handles most all of my needs. Once I have completed a task I move it to the completed calendar named Daily Journal. One of the nicer benefits is that when you are in the Week/4Day view then all Tasks appear across the top while Events appear in the time area.

Utility to make USB flash drives bootable - O'Reilly Digital Media Blog Related link: I found a couple of links for creating bootable flash drives that I found useful. How to boot from a USB device ... has good instructions, and this worked for me, and took about 20 minutes. Then I found this utility: HP bootable flash utility And it worked for me as well, and took about a minute. (old link: here) The cool thing is, the HP utility is reported to work with many other flash drives - I have a no-name USB 2.0 thumb drive, made it bootable with the HP utility on a 1.1 USB bus, and then used it to boot a Via EPIA-M2 computer by setting the BIOS to "boot from USB hard drive". Although I'm quite comfortable with the command line and a 2 page FAQ, running a GUI and clicking "make bootable" sure speeds things up.

Mark Lyon's GMail Loader (GML) - Import Your Mail into GMail In 2004, when Gmail was launched, I was amazed by the incredibly large 1GB capacity of the free service. The ability to instantly search a large volume of email was amazing. As someone who never deleted messages and still had messages dating back to 1994, I immediately looked for a way to import my existing mail into the new service. When I couldn’t find such an option, I decided to make one for myself. My tool works by reading the local mail file and remailing it to the new destination, one message at a time, into your Gmail account. In the intervening years, the Google Mail Loader has been used by thousands of people to upload their existing mail. If you’re looking to import your existing mail into a Gmail account, I highly recommend trying one of the following methods: Please note: Google has altered their MX servers. If you’re looking for a way to archive and back up your Gmail account, I recommend GMVault.

Gmail Tips - The Complete Collection Gmail Beta: First Impressions The other day, I received an "invitation" to beta test Google's new "Gmail" email service. After having tried and used literally dozens of web-based email services over the years, I decided to see what the buzz was all about, so I followed the Invitation instructions, and within a couple minutes, I had a new Google Gmail account. First off, please note that this article is based on the pre-release beta of Gmail, so presumably, the public release will have additions, changes, and improvements. Webmail While Web-based email is nothing new, Gmail introduces some new and unique concepts. But why use Webmail when I have a good client in Outlook? I'm going to first walk you through some of the "features" that make up Gmail. Advertising Let's start off with the "tough" issue first: Advertising. Gmail does not "read" your email. Google has been extremely open and forthcoming about its privacy policy and process. OK, I'll step down off of my soapbox now. Logging In 1.
