The Right Hairstyle For Your Face Shape : Hairstyles Why is this so important? Simply put, if the wrong hairstyle is created for the wrong face shape, the result is a disaster. In fact, even if a well executed, well cut hairstyle is performed on the wrong face shape, the result is still a disaster. Why again you ask? Because hairstyles are predominately about shape and geometry. It's all about putting the perfect frame around a person's face to balance and bring perspective to the overall shape. The shape must: Minimize non pleasing attributes. Once this important objective is achieved, then bringing the hairstyle to life with texture and colors should follow. Muddy Colors: “The Art of David Palumbo” Exhibit at University of the Arts, Philadelphia David Palumbo Apart from whatever I can bring with me to conventions (and those seem fewer and fewer each year for me), it is a rare moment for me to have a showing of my illustration work. For that reason, I’m very proud and excited about my exhibition just installed at the Richard C. von Hess Gallery at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. I’ve written in the past about finding one's vision as an artist and, for me, this show is something of a marker in the progress that I feel I’ve personally made. Assembling this exhibit was an interesting review along those lines. For anyone in the Philadelphia area who wants to see the show, it runs from now until May 17th with a presentation this coming Thursday on some of the above themes of progression and voice followed by the opening reception. Public Presentation: Thursday, April 2, 2015, 1- 2:30 p.m., CBS Auditorium Reception: Thursday, April 2, 2015, 3 - 4 p.m., von Hess Illustration Gallery
Enrique Fernández Lackadaisy Expressions Boy, I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I started this. I've had requests for some sort of expressions tutorial dating back a while now, so I figured, "Sure! I can explain expression drawing...and it'll be way better than all those tutorials out there that are nothing but charts of generic expressions. Yeah! Just give me a day or two to whip something up..." Um. Anyway, I found all I could really do was try to explain ways to teach yourself...and then add some pictures.
Character Design Lecture By Silver Feng Zhu Design "CHIBI the Destroyer" Well while we're at it with cute little CONAN Funko's and Chibi's I would like to share with you a little piece by Michael Cannon sent via his account at Deviant art. Conan ( Chibi ) the Destroyer. It took him 30 painstaking hours to finish up his homage to the late great Masterpiece by Frank Frazetta and I must say...I like it a lot. Take a peek at the how to process in the bottom photo there. He drew it out and then got busy wit' da' colors. Tips and Tricks from an Art Slave By Eric Fortune Actually this is not by me. Back when I worked as an in house illustrator at Gooseberry Patch......... ok, now that the chuckling has quieted down, one of my co-workers gave me a copy of some tips for freelancing. Although they make a lot of sense they aren't always easy to follow.
