ohmygoodknits! // a knitting & crochet blog
Last Easter, I made a fluffle of amigurumi bunny eggs for my favorite kiddos. This year, I’m branching out into bunny food–carrots and strawberries! They’re little amigurumi crocheted and glued onto Easter eggs. You can fill them with whatever treats your tiny humans might want. The perfect eggs for these amigurumi are from Target.

In the last issue, I promised to show you how to join two sets of live stitches without leaving a seam. Perfect for this particular issue of Knitty with its focus on garments to be worn ... hmm ... well, let's just say places you might not want a seam. It's also perfect for the toes of socks, the top of hoods and baby garments or anywhere else you don't want the thickness of bound-off edges sewn together. It's not, however, particularly well suited to shoulder seams on heavy sweaters or other places where you might want the stability of a bound-off edge to hold the shape of the garment.

Last weekend (March 14 – 16th), I attended the 10th annual Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival in Cranberry, PA. I’d heard of the festival before, but was never in town to attend. The festival attracted over 70 different booths and some big name teachers. I talked to the coordinator, Barb, and she said there were well over 3,000 attendees.

Crochet School
Sorry I've taken so long to post this very last post of the crochet school series. Would you believe me if I said I don't want it to end? haha That's not the real reason, although it is a little weird to be writing the last crochet school post (for now). I've just been busy designing new patterns and crocheting my butt off for the craft show I'm in next month, Deluxe. I was also waiting for all of you to have time to put in questions you want answered in this post.

Basic Ripple Afghan Crochet Instructions
Chain a multiple of five stitches plus seven. Make sure the chain is roughly as long as you want the afghan to be wide. The ripple of the design will make the finished piece slightly shorter than your starting chain. With a size G hook, you will get about one inch of length for every four or five stitches. Turn the piece when you have finished the chain.

Wickerwork Mitts ~ Crochet Pattern and Phototutorial
Even after 19 winters in Wisconsin, I'm still learning how to keep warm during the chilly months. This year's lesson: cover the pulse points! Not all the sweaters in the world will help if one's neck and wrists are bare.
