Google patenta sistema de seguimiento ocular para medir respuestas a la publicidad Recientemente, a Google se le concedió una patente intelectual en Estados Unidos que describe un sistema llamado "Gaze tracking system", el que sirve para hacer seguimiento ocular a los usuarios y reunir datos de hacia dónde se está mirando para sacar conclusiones en torno a la absorción de publicidad, ya sea en medios digitales o en carteles de la vida real y medios impresos. Y es que sería necesario colocar un dispositivo físico cerca del ojo de la persona para saber hacia dónde apunta su mirada, muy al estilo de lo visto en las gafas de realidad aumentada Google Glass, las que perfectamente podrían integrar la tecnología necesaria para realizar aquello. El sistema no sólo permite saber si se vislumbra o no la publicidad, sino que también mide la respuesta emocional del usuario cuando mira el aviso a través de la dilatación de su pupila, entregando aún mayor información a los avisadores interesados en esta clase de información. The Future of Advertising: 'Pay-Per-Gaze' Is Just the Beginning Advertising is going to change more in the next 20 years than it has in the last 100. If you need proof of that, just look at the patent Google was granted Thursday for a Google Glass-based ad system. Dubbed "pay-per-gaze," the content would charge advertisers for the number of times someone literally looked at their ad. The concept is buried pages deep in a patent for a "gaze tracking technique ... implemented with a head-mounted gaze-tracking device that communicates with a server." It would likely make money hand over fist, and is clearly the main future-focused impetus for the patent. But it's far from the only one. What is this head-mounted gaze-tracking device of which they speak? So to recap: the world's largest search engine was just granted a patent for the most sticky form of advertising possible — ads that literally flash in front of your eyes.
