Print to just about ANY Printer with AirPrint in iOS | MacNews Admittedly I don't do much printing these days. Also I'd have to say that i can't think of too many times that I was looking at something on my iPhone and thought "I'd like to print this." However, with the iPad things are a little different. I'm not saying that I suddenly have the need to print, but I can certainly see someone making the case for needing to print from an iPad more so than from an iPhone or iPod touch. In many cases the iPad has become a laptop replacement for a lot of people and no one would think twice about being able to print something from their laptop. Apple also sells iPad Apps like Pages and Numbers and certainly you might want to print a word processing document or spreadsheet. The iOS AirPrint built-in printing support is severely limited! Andrew Beacock's Blog: How to change your default locale on Ubuntu Linux One problem that has repeatedly cropped up when developing in Java is strange error messages in our unit tests for certain text manipulation tests when running on a freshly installed Ubuntu desktop. They are all related to Ubuntu's default British locale: en_GB.UTF-8 This was causing files checked out of CVS to be in Unicode (UTF-8) format rather than ISO-8859-1 and so the British pound sign (£) was being encoded as a double-byte (rather than single-byte) character in the file. To check which locale you currently have as your default just run: locale Changing the default locale is a little different on Ubuntu compared to most Linux distros, these are the steps we needed to go through to get it changed: Add the locale to the list of 'supported locales'Edit /var/lib/locales/supported.d/local and add the following line:en_GB ISO-8859-1 Regenerate the supported localesRun sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales Reboot! Rerun locale to check that your default locale is now en_GB

After all, before we installed the new Sophos Anti-Virus, we didn’t know that much of our junk mail arrives with Trojans attached. ClamXav and iAntiVirus had sat like Bhuddists contemplating their digital navels as the Trojans slipped past. That is the problem for British firm Sophos plc, which offers Mac users a dependable tool at a great price, i.e., free. iAntiVirus and ClamXav are also free. We use Sophos for Windows at work, largely because it has multi-layered access points for users and administrators. In reality it means machines bog down as they try to access the servers at the same time as every other computer in the company. After installing Sophos on a Mac, which has always had an anti-virus installed, Sophos found a handful of Trojans. The initial scanning of four internal hard disks, totaling 250 TB, took 36 hours. If files are in a Time Machine archive, Sophos cannot touch them.
