African Flower Hexagon Join-as-you-go Tutorial Today was a quiet day...we spent it at home, just pottering about. Gerry had to go and do rounds, and the kids did homework while I photographed the tutorial. It was a warm, sunny summers day here in SA, and the kids spent the afternoon swimming.... A visitor asked for a tutorial on how to join-as-you-go when you are crocheting African Flower Hexagons... here you are .... Start with one completed hexagon. At the apex of the flower petal, (where you will do 2 DC into the same space , with a chain stitch in between), work up until you have made ONE of the 2 DC at the apex of the petal. Chain 1 st. Insert your crochet hook as shown, through the little hole of the other hexagon, at the petal point. Yarn around hook. Pull yarn through both the hole and the stitch on the hook. Yarn around hook... Yarn around hook again, and DC into the SC loops of the round before...just as above... Completing DC. Second DC into same space completed. Yarn around hook... Remplacez l’épingle à nourrice par un lien (ruban cousu) et la fleur devient un gri-gri de sac. Un coton plus fin et la fleur sera plus petite et également plus discrète et raffinée. Pour celles qui cherchent encore les explications: Chaque rang (rg) se termine par une maille (m) coulée (MC). Rang 1 : commencer par une chaînette de 6 m. Rang 2 : faire 4 m. chaînette, puis en plongeant dans le cercle * une bride, une m. chaînette * répéter encore 10 fois et terminer par une MC (on a en tout 12 brides). Rang 3 : changer de couleur. Rang 4 : changer de couleur. Rang 5 : crocheter une m. serrée (MS) au milieu du groupe des 4 brides du rg 4, 5 m. chaînette, une MS au même endroit que la première MS, une MS entre 2 groupes de brides, répéter tout autour puis terminer par une MC. Rang 6 de la première fleur : faire une MS puis 8 brides dans chaque arceau, 1 maille serrée entre 2 ensemble de 4 brides, répéter jusqu’au bout, terminer par une MC. In these instructions, I'm joining up the squares of my 'Little Squares Scarf'. Right, here goes! Having lined up your middle squares of the first row ready to be sewn up, thread your needle with some yarn. Although I have four squares in each row of my scarf, I am going to start by sewing up the centre of the middle two rows of squares. Make sure your squares are all lying with the right side, (the front), facing up. 1. Above is another photo, to try and make it extra clear. In the photo above, you can see what I've just done. 2. This time, you will be taking your needle up and through the bar, in the chain that is at bottom RIGHT hand side of your square. You can see what I've just done, in the picture above. Now I'd like you to keep your squares flat on your work surface for the rest of your joining up. 3. Above you can see how your stitch is starting to look. 4. 5. Like above!
