Crochet Rope Basket

Crochet Rope Basket
Customisable Crochet Basket I’ve been looking for a basket of specific dimensions for a while without any luck. Then I saw a circular version of this idea and realised I could make my own! This uses a technique similar to thrumming, where you crochet over another thread to add bulk to a fabric. If you have ever crocheted over your ends to avoid weaving in, this works the same way. In this case I used rope instead of another yarn, which is a lot bulkier but great for adding stiffness and making each row deeper. The resulting basket is rectangular with rounded corners. Finished article You will need: Length of rope (mine was 38m in length and 6mm diameter, for a 22x42x17cm basket)Stash yarn (I used 310m of Patons 100% cotton 4ply in a cream colourway)Size 5.00mm crochet hook (use a metal hook if possible as the work is quite stiff), or larger if your rope is thicker. Pattern: Foundation row: Decide what size base you need. Ch 30 (or number required for you desired dimensions) +2, turn Secured end Related:  Tricot

My First Successful Slouchy Hat | Colouring With Yarn It’s almost the end of summer … those cold winds are coming back … we’re all going to be bundled up again … I am so not ready for that so soon! Well, we can’t stop Mother Nature either … During an unexpected lull in activities and work, I picked up hook and yarn and decided that I was going to figure out how this slouchy hat/beanie was going to be made. I had followed patterns before, but they never turned out right. Some looked like it was a chef’s hat. After three tries – two of them completed hats already but it didn’t slouch the way I liked it – I came up with this. I think I like this. There’s been several requests for the pattern for this particular one. HDC Slouchy Hat Hook: I used an H-5.00mm hookYarn: this yarn looked/felt to be DK weight. For this same effect, choose a variegated yarn with longer colour changes. Pattern: Setup: ch 5; sl st to form a circle; Brim: Rnds 28-32: ch 2; sc around; slst to join. Fasten off. – Yarn and tension may make a difference. Like this:

I knew that I wanted to crochet a blanket for the baby, but couldn’t decide on a stitch to use…until I saw this youtube video. I am in love with the basket weave stitch pattern! So, I created a blanket pattern from the instructions from that video {with my own personal preferences as changes}. The blanket I created is out of a soft, chunky acrylic yarn which yields some very important benefits. One, it’s very washable because it’s acrylic – big plus for me. This type of yarn can be pricey to buy, but if you use coupons or wait for a good sale you can make a blanket for anywhere from $12 – $30. I used a size N hook which also helped the blanket pattern move along quickly. Please bear with me as I am not a crochet pattern writer. Here’s what I did… Yarn: 5 skeins of cream and 1 1/2 skeins of tan for the border. ch. 67 Row 1: In third chain from hook dc. Row 2: Ch. 2 and turn. Row 6: Ch. 2 turn.

Susan Hippie Crochet free crochet grocery bag pattern Crochet Grocery Bag PatternBy Haley Waxberg I designed this bag for utilitarian purposes with myself, my friends & family in mind. It is a sturdy, medium sized mesh bag that will be large enough to replace a regular size plastic bag from the grocery store. It comes out looking small but it holds a mighty load. It is designed to be just the right size to hold heavy groceries (like 4 heavy cans) without hitting the ground or falling out. Suggestions • This is NOT a large shoulder bag sized tote. • If you are a very tight crocheter it's a good idea to add a few rows in the middle. • If you are a loose crocheter go down a hook size. • The last stitch of the round is worked into the space which the marker is on. • Count the number of stitches after each increase round and make sure you don’t have extra. • When cutting or joining yarn leave 4 or 5 inches of yarn to weave in. • "DK" weight yarn refers to "Double Knitting" weight yarn. Devant

Heat pad with crochet cover | Nice piece of work Yesterday, Saturday, was a bit of a non-starter for me, so I just went with it and stayed in bed and finished my Kathy Reichs. I really had to force myself to get up mid-afternoon and go through the motions, but somehow I did – and managed to rouse enough energy to finish this – my heat pad. Ta-da! Well, not exactly finished because the zip is still just tacked in. Here’s what I did: Using Vinni’s DK Nikkim cotton and a 4mm hook, chain 46. Weave in the ends, fold the rectangle in half, and sew the side seams together. I used a metal zip, which turns out not to have been the best idea. Using thin cotton fabric, make an inner pad by cutting two pieces the same size as the crochet cover, and sew them together. Turn the bag inside out, fill with rice* (I used 520g and added a few drops of lavender oil for a nice smell), and slip stitch the opening closed. * Use a funnel to do this.
