Alternate Sleep Cycles Most people only think that there is one way to sleep: Go to sleep at night for 6-8 hours, wake up in the morning, stay awake for 16-18 hours and then repeat. Actually, that is called a monophasic sleep cycle, which is only 1 of 5 major sleep cycles that have been used successfully throughout history. The other 4 are considered polyphasic sleep cycles due to the multiple number of naps they require each day. Well the most important of every sleep cycle is the Stage 4 REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, which has been shown to provide the benefits of sleep to the brain above all other stages of sleep. This way, you still get the benefits of 8 hours of sleep without wasting all of the time it takes to get to REM cycles, resulting in a much more efficient sleep cycle. Uberman Cycle: 20 to 30 minute naps every 4 hours, resulting in 6 naps each day. Everyman Cycle: One longer “core” nap that is supplemented with several 20-30 minute naps. Dymaxion Cycle: Biphasic/Siesta Cycle: – Hang in there.

Cheesy Florentine Biscuit Cups March 22, 2011 1:37 pm · Posted by Lauren G I looove refrigerated Pillsbury biscuits, mostly because I like popping open the can, but they're also delicious and easy to make. I wanted something different than just your everyday biscuit, so I looked up some recipes on the Pillsbury website. I had most of the ingredients on hand (with a few substitutions) so I chose this one. 2 tablespoons unsalted or salted butter 1 box (9 oz) frozen chopped spinach 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury® Grands! 4 oz thick-cut slices Canadian bacon, cut into 1/4-inch cubes (I used ham lunchmeat) 4 eggs 2 cups shredded mild Cheddar cheese (8 oz) Heat oven to 350°F. In 10-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Separate dough into 12 biscuits by peeling apart the layers. Break eggs into bowl and beat with a fork to mix whites and yolks evenly. Bake 15-20 minutes or centers feel firm when touched and biscuits are golden brown.

Korean Cooking 101 I was asked to do a run down of the most used Korean ingredients, so I thought I would oblige. There were a few items that I just realized that I didn't take a picture of, but I'll add them later when I get the chance. I'm sure you've noticed by now that the MOST important items (at least on this blog) are the following... Gook Ganjang - If you can see on the bottom it says "Traditional Korean Soy Sauce (for soup)" and that's the best description of it. It's basically a light soy sauce that is used to flavor broth. You should most definitely buy a Korean brand because it is very different from other “light” soy sauces that might be out there. Sesame oil - I just buy whatever is on sale. Dwen jang - aka soy bean paste is used for a lot of different types of soups. Gochu jang - aka red pepper paste (on this blog) - aka hot bean paste is exactly that. This is what I refer to as “cooking wine” on my blog – I tend to buy whatever is on sale because to me, they all taste the same. Corn Syrup

As a card-carrying member of the Ramen Transmogrification Society of Greater New York,* it is my duty, my honor, and my privilege to share with you some of our methods and recipes. For full, step-by-step instructions on any of these dishes, please click through the slideshow above. * Our membership is pretty thin right now—care to join? Simple Add-ins Mix-ins.
