9 Charmingly Delightful Beauty Techniques from All Over the World &8230; - StumbleUpon
Beauty techniques are highly beneficial, but some of them are incredibly recycled. What I mean is, in my life, I always get the same pieces of advice. My friends and family members always share the same beauty techniques – and yes, they're extremely helpful, but sometimes I'd like to hear something new, wouldn't you? My godfather's ex-wife (convoluted, I know) is a native of Australia.
solid perfume pocket watch locket
Try as I might, I cannot seem to grasp even the most basic of feminine beauty rituals. I’m constantly struggling to master rudimentary hair and makeup techniques, and my one-time foray into the “subtle” art of perfume left everyone in the room with burning nostrils. This DIY solid perfume locket from artisanal perfumer Mandy Aftel is something I can definitely stand behind, though. Mandy only uses pure and natural ingredients to create her perfumes, and this solid scent can be easily applied with no risk of over-dousing. The old pocket watch appeals to my tomboy side, and I love its versatility; you can wear it as a necklace or pin, or simply tuck it into your pocket or purse. I can’t wait to make one and give my feminine sensibilities a little boost :) Thanks for sharing this tutorial with us, Mandy! Read the full how-to after the jump! Creating your own solid perfume is extremely satisfying. Materials Instructions 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Homemade deodorant with coconut oil
Ditch the TV. Check. Make my own toothpaste. Check. Go poo-free. Next on the list: make my own deodorant…and not be smelly. Well, the recipe below is a winner. It takes a little bit of getting used to the application process, but it totally works. The less chemicals I put in and around my body, the better chance I have to be doing cartwheels around the grandkids someday. Simple living takes baby steps. Wanna join me on the hippie bandwagon? ingredients 1/3 c. baking soda 1/2 c. arrowroot powder 5 tbs unrefined coconut oil 15 drops of grapefruit essential oil directions 1. application This part is all personal preference. I recently had a deodorant-making party and our first batch turned out very oily (I called it soupy). *Update (9/17/12): The original recipe used 1/3 cup arrowroot, but I recently upped it to 1/2 cup and like it a lot more. I use coconut oil on my face, for baking muffins, for toothpaste, deep conditioning treatments, and so much more. You can read all about it here.
Aromatherapy vapor shower disks tutorial.
Now that the holidays are said and done, I think we're all in need of some serious relaxation. Unfortunately with the decoration clean-up, finding space for all of the wonderful new gifts, and the fact that life doesn't stop just because you need a break, relaxing isn't the easiest thing to fit in. Hopefully you're still taking time for hygiene and showering (hopefully) and if that's the case, these babies will help soothe your frazzled nerves instantly. Supplies:Muffin tin & linersBaking soda (you'll need about 2 boxes)Essential oils (I used a blend) Mix about 2 1/2 cups baking soda with water in a bowl until you've made a thick putty. I ended up using about 1/3 cup water. I wanted my vapor disks to last through multiple showers, so I filled my liners about 3/4 full. Pop them in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. After cooled, add 9-10 drops of your essential oils to each disk. These oils were yellow (I believe because they're not "pure" oils) but the color didn't bother me.
