What you can find here? | Our Blues : Some written lines about blues After putting on-line MyBlues.eu which narrates my literature journey through the early blues and its roots, and after inviting all of you to share how you feel about the blues on ThyBlues, I found it a natural step to open up a third panel to the triptych : OurBlues. Its goal is simple: to gather articles which I have appreciated personally as very inspiring in my literature journey, and which I would like to share with you all hoping that you might find them also stimulating to conduct your own journey into the blues. Does this mean that I agree with all the author contends? Not always, but its presence here means that I find it interesting enough to consider and to provoke a debate. When I have obtained the authorisation from the author, I will reproduce the article in its full length. You find my coordinates here : Before you start strolling around in what will be an ever growing documentation center, I would like to give you a personal consideration.
The best of sleeve designs and visual works for music: Björk - Biophilia Apart from being an Ipad app, with graphics from M/M French graphic studio, and in-app buying of each song/app, the new album of Björk is again an occasion to offer a new serie of portraits of her, this time shot by Ines van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. The vinyl edition has a different cover, built around the biophilia logo designed by M/M Paris. Treble : 10 Essential Shoegaze Albums Around the late ’80s, Oxford psych-rock band Ride unexpectedly gave birth to the name of a new genre because of their somewhat introverted performance style. Taking note of the way the band members’ habit of looking down while playing, British journalists named the genre “shoegaze,” a once joking name that now represents some of the most beautiful and/or powerful rock records in existence. Shoegaze music is frequently marked by its heavy use of guitar effects, and for that matter, heavy use of guitars. It’s dense and dreamy, often very loud, but quite gorgeous all the same. Shoegaze has been in the spotlight for much of the past decade, with bands like Deerhunter and M83 incorporating many of its stylistic elements. The Jesus and Mary Chain – Psychocandy (1985, Blanco y Negro)Buy at Insound It’s probably most accurate to call The Jesus and Mary Chain’s debut album, Psychocandy, a ‘proto-shoegaze’ album.

The 50 best uses of songs in movies - Film - Time Out New York Pulp Fiction Colloquially, it used to be called the "needle drop"—when a Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino picked a piece of preexisting music and laid it down under a dramatic scene, with seismic results. We've thumbed through our stacks of wax (i.e., Blu-ray collections) to collect cinema's most potent examples, allowing for iconic uses of classical music and jazz along with the expected pop hits. One parameter, though: no songs composed for the movie itself.
