Don Harper Mills: 1994's Most Bizarre Suicide This story can be found in many places on the Web, usually without attribution, and claims that it is true. But the story of its origin, and how to spot it must be an UL, can be found at Deconstructing Ronald Opus At the 1994 annual awards dinner given by the American Association for Forensic Sciences, AAFS President Don Harper Mills astounded his audience in San Diego with the legal complications of a bizarre death. Here is the story... On March 23 the medical examiner viewed the body of Ronald Opus and concluded that he died from a gunshot wound of the head caused by a shotgun. Investigation to that point had revealed that the decedent had jumped from the top of a ten story building with the intent to commit suicide. Ordinarily a person who starts into motion the events with a suicide intent ultimately commits suicide even though the mechanism might be not what he intended. The medical examiner closed the case as a suicide.

At first I was like "Holy shnikeys! This is way too many questions! I am NOT going to go over all of these with my fiance!" But we did. At first it started with asking the interesting questions, but then we asked them all, wondering if maybe the answer would be different than we expected. From answering these questions we talked about how we plan on raising and disciplining our kids, who will manage the bills, what our parents should and shouldn't know about, what we believe our flaws are. Here's some of the questions I think are really important to have an understanding on in your marriage. I don't necessarily believe the answers to these questions will make or break your marriage, but I do believe that opening up the lines of communication and honestly talking about the important things these questions bring up IS important. What turns you off sexually?

Growing Celery Indoors: Never Buy Celery Again | 17 Apart: Growing Celery Indoors: Never Buy Celery Again Remember when we tested and shared how to grow onions indefinitely last week? Well, at the same time, we've been testing out another little indoor gardening project first gleaned from Pinterest that we're excited to share the successes of today — regrowing celery from it's base. We've figured out how to literally re-grow organic celery from the base of the bunch we bought from the store a couple weeks ago. I swear, we must have been living under a rock all these years or just not be that resourceful when it comes to food, but we're having more fun learning all these new little tips and tricks as we dive deeper into trying to grow more of our own food. This project is almost as simple as the onion growing project — simply chop the celery stalks from the base of the celery you bought from the store and use as you normally would. We let our celery base hang out in the saucer of water for right around one week, give or take. Update 2: Here's how we are looking at almost 3-4 weeks of growth:
