A Comedian Tears Apart A Classic Anti-Gay Argument In A Hilariously Vicious 3-Minute Rant
Paul Provenza: My favorite piece of yours, and it's not poetry, it's comedy. Jamie Kilstein: No, it's stand-up. Paul Provenza: Do that one joke. Do that one joke about gay rights. Do you want to stand? Jamie Kilstein: Ron, do you want me to stand or sit, or... Ron White: You can sit right where you are so you can't get away if it sucks. Jamie Kilstein: To every heterosexual, mentally-abusive, closet racist, fast food feeding, let-your-kid-run-around-a-mall-like-a-psychopath parent: Why do you have, like, nine fucking kids yet you say that gay folk can't adopt because it might screw the child up. Do you know how many straight parents shouldn't have children? These are people who will raise a child for a better reason than "the condom broke." Ron White: Wait a minute. Stress Management
A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water?" Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g. The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn’t matter. "If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm. He continued, "And that’s the way it is with stress management. "As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. "So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. "Relax; pick them up later after you’ve rested.
Even The Daily Show Was Shocked by This Racist GOP Leader's Responses
You already have to do that in NC. It's already the law that you have to show ID when you vote in a new district or vote for the first time. But the rules for proving who you are used to be much more fair and egalitarian. This law changes the type of identification they'll accept. No more student IDs or other forms of free ID that most people have. Because 1. Also, take this example from Pennsylvania in 2012: The razor-thin majority Republican legislature pass a voter ID law that created a group of hundreds of thousands of eligible voters without the necessary ID. Forget the cost (i.e., the poll tax) (which is unconstitutional, BTW). And yet, when this fact was brought up in a pre-election lawsuit, the state's lawyer tried to say it was not relevant. A NC ID valid for voting is free, from the state website: No-Fee ID Card Program After January 1, 2014, you will be able to apply for a free NC ID card to be used for voting. You may be exempt from the fee if you:
Everyone saw the biracial Cheerios commercial, but kids saw it differently
This video will restore your faith in the new generation. Here, kids watch the needlessly controversial Cheerios commercial featuring a biracial family and comment on it. None of them can tell the interviewer what’s wrong with the spot. When it’s pointed out that people were upset about the races of the parents, the children are all confused. MORE: Here's a new Cheerios commercial, made just for the haters The video is part of a Fine Bros. series that has kids, teens, and elderly people react to viral videos, news stories, or trends. In the disclaimer before the video, the brothers write, “The insights of children about these issues can give incredible insight into where our society really is and where we are headed as people.” When told that people were angry about the mixed-race couple in the commercial, the children display genuine confusion. “It’s just the color of their skin, what matters is if they’re nice or mean,” says one. “Underneath it, you’re literally the same. A Cowboy Named Butch Had A Gay Son And Raised Him To Be Proud To Say 'Well Howdy, I Love My Partner'
Speaker: Madam secretary. Secretary: Announcements by City Council members and staff regarding upcoming and recent events and recognition of citizens. Speaker: Councilman Mr. Councilman Joel Burns: Yes, sir. The appearance of Asher Brown, who you can see above, complained to school officials in the Cypress Fairbanks ISD outside of Houston, that their son was being bullied and harassed in school. Unlike Asher, Indiana teen Billy Lucas, never self identified as gay but was perceived to be, by boys who harassed him daily at the Greenberg Community High School. Minnesota 15 year old, Justin Aaberg, came out to friends at age 13, after which the harassment and bullying began. Classmates started teasing and name calling Seth Walsh in the fourth grade. Teen bullying and suicide has reached an epidemic in our country, especially among gay and lesbian youths, those perceived to be gay or kids who are just different. Speaker: Take your time. There is so, so, so much more.

I Never Thought I'd Want To High-Five A Teacher For Yelling At A Student, But I Was Wrong
I know this is on the long-ish side, but I promise that there's a really valuable message here that makes it worth watching all the way through. Jane Elliot is a teacher and diversity trainer who developed the "Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes" exercise to teach students what it feels like to be a person of color. This video begins pretty abruptly, where one of the students who's been singled out based on eye color is extremely frustrated. At 2:46, Elliot explains why she keeps going even after she's made the point. Many years ago, I could have been the girl who walked out, not understanding how this feels to the people it affects. A partial transcript from a very powerful portion of the video, beginning at 3:19: Elliot: “No. Student: “I’m sorry there’s racism in this country..." Elliot: “Bullshit! Student: “I will not apologize because it’s not a matter of race always...” Elliot: “Out.”
Introverts
Like many introverts, I cherish my time alone. Many of my friends and family have often misunderstood my need to be alone. The first cartoon is definitely me. While I have things to say, I often choose not to say them--and I find those who say whatever pops into their head to be quite annoying. I hate small talk. I'm not sure how many psych teachers (or teachers in general) are also introverts, but I've read quite a number of anecdotal stories of actors who are shy/introverted in real life. First is a book about being an introvert. Second is the Brainpickings recent entry on the book above--it also contains a couple of videos, one is an RSA animation and a TED talk. Additionally, I decided to search for and post some cartoons.
