Twittermania: 140+ More Twitter Tools!
Various Twitter-related tools and plugins have been multiplying fast over since we did our big Twitter Toolbox and 8 awesome Firefox plugins for Twitter earlier. When we say fast, we "mean 140+ new tools" fast, and we probably missed some, too. You know what this means: now you have to arm yourself with dozens of shiny widgets you probably don't need, but you can't resist them anyway. Posting Enhancement

Hahlo 3.1 I’m a little bit sad today. Twitter has today turned off v1.0 of their API. As a result of this my mobile twitter client, Hahlo, has also ceased to work just short of its 6th anniversary. Six years is a long time in the web world, I know a lot of things now that I wish I’d known back then - sure would have made many things a lot easier. Twitter has changed a lot in that time, as have the capabilities of the browsers and devices being developed for. First State of the Twitosphere in France On this blog I already published several posts with a detailed analysis of the twitosphere in a specific country. From time to time people ask me to have a closer look at their country, e.g. France. The first question in such an analysis is the number of Twitter users in France. Twitter locates 4371 Twitter users in France (Twitter users who explicitely mention France in their location), Twitdir reports 3367 Twitter users. Based on the location info in the Twitter profiles, I was able to find 6229 Twitter users in France, still active users.

s Blog: Need help managing your Twitter Karma? So, I finally let the cat out of the bag a few minutes ago and announced Twitter Karma publically. So, what is it? The other day, @StephAgresta said, “Twitter desperately needs page navigation on followers / following list. 85 Twitter Tools Here’s a look at some of the tools that have been feeding my Twitter addiction, and some other highly-recommended tools that I’ll be checking out this week. As Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey said in our meeting last week, the strength of Twitter lies in its open API and 3rd party tools; the platform itself is incredibly simple. If you’re looking to get the most out of Twitter, these tools will help you do just that. At first I ignored Twitter as just another vanilla social media app. Then I looked into it and just didn’t get it. Finally I signed up and started playing around, but was less than impressed (I followed all the wrong people and felt like I was opting-in to be SPAMmed).

Six Degrees of Separation, Twitter Style Over the past year, we've spent a lot of time exploring Twitter, and one of the things we've been curious about is how connected people are to each other within the Twitter network. So, we sliced and diced more than 5.2 billion Twitter friendships (the number of friend and follower relationships) to investigate the connectivity of the Twitter network. We discovered that Twitter is, in many, ways a network with only five degrees of separation. This means that nearly everyone on Twitter is just five steps away from each other. We describe this separation between two people as "friendship distance".

Creating a Website - Photoshop & Dreamweaver This is the simplest way that I found to create websites with a professional design without actually having knowledge of web design. The software tools that you need and versions used in this tutorial: - Macromedia Dreamweaver (MX 2004) to edit HTML pages. - Adobe Photoshop (v.7) for images processing. 1. Setting up content and establish dimensions for the website pages Did Twitter Lay Down for Google? - Sugarrae Or do they just not trust you? As you may have heard, Twitter recently decided to “nofollow” links left in the “bio” section of user profiles. The “web” link has long been a nofollow link, but the bio links passed popularity until Dave Naylor exposed it, which alerted Matt Cutts (a Google engineer) who sent a tweet to @ev (a twitter founder) about Dave’s forementioned post and *poof* bio links were nofollowed. Now, as I sat there thinking about all of this happening, I became increasingly annoyed by one question. Why? Why would Twitter, or Google (and I don’t care which) think that a profile link, be it in the “web” section or the “bio” section from my Twitter page should be nofollowed?

HOW TO: Go Back in Time, Twitter-style There seems to be an emergent meme (tweme?) going on with those who like to build apps on the back of status micro-blogging service Twitter: seeing the users’ first Tweets. Perhaps it’s a function of Twitter’s seeming maturity, or crossing over into the mainstream. Twitter has continued it’s solidly upward swell and has received its share of recognition, so for those of us who have been using it for quite a while, its amusing to realize that it actually is a trip back in time to view first people’s first missives. There are two sites I’ve come across in the last couple days that let you travel up to 88 miles per hour into the past. How Social Media Drives New Business: Six Case Studies Businesses both big and small are flocking to social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Foursquare. The fact is that a presence on these platforms not only allows companies to engage in conversations with consumers, but also serves as an outlet to drive sales through deals and coupons. And while major brands like Starbucks, Virgin, and Levi’s have been participating in the social web for some time now, the rate of adoption among small businesses is increasing too. According to a recent University of Maryland study, social media adoption by small businesses has doubled from 12% to 24% in the last year. But as these businesses look to Facebook and Twitter to connect with customers, many are finding that some strategies work and some do not produce results.

Twitter Conversation Statistics - Power of Replies and Retweets When a tweet generates a reply (aka @) or a retweet (aka RT), it suggests the tweet has resonated enough with someone that it sparks a conversation or encourages someone to share it with their followers. Given the power of the reply and the RT, we thought it would be interesting to explore how many tweets actually generate a reaction. We also wanted to collect more insight into the characteristics of these reactions. For example, what is the timeframe for a retweet to happen?
