Timeline for Irreversible Climate Change Fifty years ago, Yankee Stadium had about 70,000 seats. It seldom sold out, and almost any kid could afford the cheapest seats. Capacity was reduced to about 57,000 when the stadium was remodeled in the 1970s. Most games sell out now, and prices have gone up. The new stadium, opening next year, will reduce seating to about 51,800. Now fossil-fuel moguls are intent on hoodwinking the entire planet with an analogous scheme. The basic trick is oil producers overstating fossil-fuel reserves. The reality of limited supply forces prices higher. Oil "reserves" suddenly doubled when Organization for the Petroleum Exporting Countries decided that production quotas would be proportional to official reserves. Conventional fossil-fuel supplies are limited, even if we tear up the Earth to extract every last drop of oil and shard of coal. Basic facts on reserves must be combined with basic climate facts described in the paper "Target Atmospheric CO2: Where Should Humanity Aim?"
Documentary Heaven | Watch Free Documentaries Online The Energy versus Environment Tradeoff: Stark Evidence from Euro Does demand create supply? Europe is building more coal fired power plants but wants to be "green" and reduce its carbon dioxide emissions. How clean is "clean coal"? Will "clean coal" become cleaner (soon enough) if enough coal fired power plants seek to sell power based on "clean coal"? New York TimesApril 23, 2008Europe Turns to Coal Again, Raising Alarms on Climate By ELISABETH ROSENTHAL CIVITAVECCHIA, Italy — At a time when the world’s top climate experts agree that carbon emissions must be rapidly reduced to hold down global warming, Italy’s major electricity producer, Enel, is converting its massive power plant here from oil to coal, generally the dirtiest fuel on earth. Over the next five years, Italy will increase its reliance on coal to 33 percent from 14 percent. And Italy is not alone in its return to coal. They are aghast at the renaissance of coal, a fuel more commonly associated with the sooty factories of Dickens novels, and one that was on its way out just a decade ago.

Who knows, maybe they can help you with research on a term paper — or at least help you procrastinate writing said term paper. (Note: there’s a lot of stuff available if you go directly to Google Video and YouTube, but good luck browsing through the randomness for documentaries unless you know what specific movie you’re looking for.) 15. Must Watch Documentaries | Watch Free Documentaries | Sprword.com - Spread the Word Rapid Fire - What Brain and Sperm Share and Why Care Since the invention of radar, cell phone radiation was assumed to be harmless because it wasn't like X-rays. But a sea change is now occurring in the way scientists think about it. The latest research ties this kind of radiation to lowered sperm counts, an increased risk of Alzheimer's, and even cancer. Devra Davis tells the story of the dangers that the cell phone industry is knowingly exposing us-and our children-to in the pursuit of profit. More than five billion cell phones are currently in use, and that number increases every day. By Dr. In this Dean's Lecture, epidemiologist and electromagnetic radiation expert, Dr Devra Davis, will outline the evolution of the mobile phone and smartphone, and provide a background to the current 19 year old radiation safety standards (SAR), policy developments and international legislation.
