Houston, we have a problem Meaning Originally a genuine report of a life-threatening fault. Now used humorously to report any kind of problem. Origin 'Houston, we have a problem' is right up there with 'Beam me up Scotty' at the top of the spaceflight-related quotations tree. John Swigert, Jr. and James Lovell who, with Fred Haise Jr., made up the crew of the US's Apollo 13 moon flight, reported a problem back to their base in Houston on 14th April, 1970. Swigert and then Lovell (almost) used the phrase to report a major technical fault in the electrical system of one of the Service Module's oxygen tanks: Swigert: 'Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here.' 'Houston, we have a problem' was used later as the tagline for the 1995 film - Apollo 13. Uh, this is Houston. The issue of the film brought about a renewal in the use of the line and, from then onwards, it began being used in non-spaceflight contexts. The phrase was used again, in 2001, to report the health and addiction problems of the singer Whitney Houston.

12 sites to watch films online for free As much as we all nostalgically long for the days we patronized local video stores and supported independent neighbourhood theaters, one of the really cool thing about the age of the internet has to be watching films online, without having to leave the house or shelling a penny. Because we, at the NFB, feel confident you would never abandon us for another streaming site (I mean, how could you), we decided to put together and share with you a list of destinations for watching films online. All sites in the following list are free; only one requires you become a member. Watch away friends, and by all means feel free to leave a comment if you see I’ve omitted a landmark. The internet being the beast we know, it is highly possible I will have. Popcornflix This site, currently in beta is in my opinion a better general/Hollywood movie site than veoh and OVGuide, where all I ever find is trailers or movie clips. The Shooting of Red Eagle - Lakota The Shooting of Red Eagle A Lakota Legend A man in buckskins sat upon the top of a little hillock. Soon four strong men ran forth from the center wigwam toward the hillock, where sat the man with the long bow. Proud and silent he gazed upon the cone-shaped wigwams beneath him. Ready to greet the stranger, the tall chieftain stood at the entrance way. "Hau, great chieftain!" Entering the tipi, the chieftain motioned the young man to the right side of the doorway, while he sat down opposite him with a center fire burning between them. Wordless, like a bashful Indian maid, the avenger ate in silence the food set before him on the ground in front of his crossed shins. "Han, my son!" With the magic arrow in his quiver the stranger felt not in the least too presuming in addressing the woman as his mother- in-law. "The young man is not handsome after all!" But the lull between midnight and dawn was short indeed. He appeared, that terrible bird! "Ah! "I passed him on my way.
Susan Sontag - Duett för kannibaler AKA Duet for Cannibals (1969) New York Times September 25, 1969 The Screen: Susan Sontag's 'Duet for Cannibals' at Festival By ROGER GREENSPUN THE special providence that protects movie critics decrees that when they do take up honest work they often make surprisingly good movies. In America, we have Peter Bogdanovitch ("Targets") and now Susan Sontag with "Duet for Cannibals," which played last night at the New York Film Festival. Except for some bandages out of Godard, two wigs out of Antonioni, and a leading lady out of Bernardo Betrolucci (Adriana Asti, who is more interesting here than she was in "Before the Revolution"), "Duet for Cannibals" doesn't seem to owe much to anybody except to Miss Sontag and her own idomatic, uncluttered sense of the medium. The film is in Swedish, made in Sweden for a Swedish producer, but the subtitles are Miss Sontag's, and I suspect that as much has been gained as lost in the various translations and transpositions required in realizing the project.
