L’objectif de ce texte est surtout d’insister sur le caractère très évolutif des technologies mobilisées et de pointer certains enjeux actuels bousculant les organisations de travail en place : quel périmètre doit-on considérer aujourd’hui pour certains services ? Pourquoi le nouvel enjeu de l’ouverture des données ? La place du numérique dans les formations ? Working Towards a Definition of Library 2.0 Looking First at Web 2.0 Yesterday’s public release of Flock has created some reluctant questioning among proponents of Web 2.0, with the best comments coming from WeBreakStuff. For anyone who may not know, Flock is a new browser – actually it’s built on Firefox – that integrates your Delicious feeds into the browser itself. However, WeBreakStuff is spot on when they say, “But being 100% honest, I’m still not sure I’m changing my browser to have a way to integrate delicious and a blogging tool into my browsing experience.” When was the last time you changed your browser? Products offering incremental improvements in technology -- like Flock-- can no longer ask the user to make such fundamental changes. I would extend this idea of Web 2.0 to any program that requires an installation to the user’s local computer so that the program can run as its own operation. So how does this all fit into Library 2.0? The introduction of these services into public libraries has not been an easy one.
Internet en bibliothèques L’Auditorium 70 de la Bibliothèque nationale de France suffisait à peine pour accueillir tous les participants à la journée d’étude « Internet en bibliothèques : recherche documentaire et formation des usagers, outils du web 2.0 et leurs usages en bibliothèque », organisée le mardi 15 décembre 2009 par le groupe Paris de l’Association des bibliothécaires de France. En attendant le moteur idéal… D’emblée, Véronique Mesguich, directrice de l’infothèque du Pôle Léonard de Vinci, posa l’une des questions fondamentales, au cœur des préoccupations des professionnels : quels moteurs de recherche pour faire face à une information abondante, hétérogène, multilingue, fragmentée, non structurée et en renouvellement perpétuel ? Depuis une quinzaine d’années, les internautes ont connu plusieurs générations de moteurs : Altavista, Voilà, Yahoo, Ask, moteurs puissants mais basés sur des index et des algorithmes peu explicites. Les moteurs de l’avenir seront, eux, sémantiques.

The power of books to advance individual fulfilment and to create social change is unequalled. Intimate and yet deeply social, books provide far-reaching forms of dialogue between individuals, within communities and across time. As Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl who was shot by the Taliban for attending classes, said in her speech at the United Nations: Let us pick up our books and our pens. On World Book and Copyright Day, UNESCO invites all women and men to rally around books and all those who write and produce books. Books are not immune from a world of change, embodied in the advent of digital formats and the transition to open licensing for knowledge-sharing. This means more uncertainty but also new opportunity -- including for innovative business models in the world of publishing. By championing copyright and open access, UNESCO stands up for creativity, diversity and equal access to knowledge.

The master coached students, "Undo all preconceptions." The proper awareness required to appreciate the swarm nature of complicated things might be called hive mind. The swarm master coaches, "Loosen all attachments to the sure and certain." A contemplative swarm thought: The Atom is the icon of 20th century science. The popular symbol of the Atom is stark: a black dot encircled by the hairline orbits of several other dots. The image of the planetary Atom is printed on toys and on baseball caps. The internal circles of the Atom mirror the cosmos, at once a law-abiding nucleus of energy, and at the same time the concentric heavenly spheres spinning in the galaxy. Another Zen thought: The Atom is the past. The Net is an emblem of multiples. Hidden in the Net is the mystery of the Invisible Hand -- control without authority. The Net, as a banner, is harder to live with.
