As Countries Get Richer, They Trade Hunger for Obesity, in One Chart - Olga Khazan And many have obese and extremely malnourished people living side-by-side. Mexico in 1937 and in 2011. (AP) Last week there was news of a rare victory -- if you can call it that -- in Americans' decades-long battle against bulge: We're no longer number one in obesity, it turns out, we're number two. The dubious distinction of fattest country now goes to Mexico, where 32.8 percent of the population is obese, and where rates of obesity and overweight have tripled since 1980. But another thing happened in that same time period: Mexicans have been moving to cities. A new report from the Food and Agriculture Organization shows that the two trends might be connected. There are many things that go wrong when you don't eat the right kinds of food, but the one of the most serious problems is stunting -- put simply, kids don't grow like they should when they don't eat enough. In any given country, as more people move to cities, the prevalence of stunting diminishes. The good news?
Militarized police gone wild across America; terrorizing citizens, shooting pet dogs, behaving like occupying military force (NaturalNews) The article which originally appeared here has been removed because it is no longer aligned with the science-based investigative mission of Natural News. In late 2013 / early 2014, Mike Adams (the Health Ranger), editor of Natural News, transitioned from outspoken activist to environmental scientist. He now runs the Natural News Forensic Food Lab, conducting world-class food science research and publishing scientific papers on food contaminants and nutritional analytics. Through scientific investigation powered by university-level analytical instrumentation, Adams found that, much like the majority of the population, he had been suffering over the past several years from chronic exposure to cumulative toxic elements found in the food supply, including in many organics and "superfoods." Notably, Adams found that exposure to toxic elements in foods altered his mindset, outlook on life and degree of happiness in the world. "Everything is at stake. • Scientific papers
Federal Court Rules Videotaping Police Is A First Amendment Right | PFPM The Federal Appeals Court has ruled that video recording the police in a public place is a constitutional right for all U.S. citizens. This is a great win for the freedom movement. Public officials need to be held accountable for their actions. See ruling below. Plaintiff, Appellee, v. “I can’t afford to eat right” I was cycling in the canyon with my friend Kara last week, and she was telling me about being raised by a single mom on a very fixed budget. Kara was one of several children, and she said to me, “My mom was a rock star. She fed us all healthy food, because it was cheap.” Wait…..what? I can’t count how many times I’ve heard the excuse, “I can’t eat that healthy stuff. For how long? Here are CHEAP WHOLE FOODS Kara was raised on, and I’ve mixed into the list the ones I was raised on, too: Rolled oats (oatmeal)All kinds of beansPotatoes and sweet potatoesGreens and tomatoes, peppers, etc. from the garden (fresh, and frozen in a used freezer)Apples and bananasHomemade whole wheat bread (use organic wheat, or better yet, spelt or Kamut)Fruit trees (freeze the fruit when it’s in season)Nuts and seeds from co-ops This isn’t necessarily “high raw,” I realize. It really is not true that the only way to live cheap is to eat processed food. I never knew we were poor. I guess it can be done.
Secret Trade Agreements Threaten to Undo Our Last Shreds of Food Safety If you think the U.S. government is doing a sub-par job of keeping your food safe, brace yourself. You could soon be eating imported seafood, beef or chicken products that don’t meet even basic U.S. food safety standards. Under two new trade agreements, currently in negotiation, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) could be powerless to shut down imports of unsafe food or food ingredients. And if it tries, multinational corporations will be able to sue the U.S. government for the loss of anticipated future profits. More frightening? Designed to grease the wheels of world commerce, the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) would force the U.S. and other participating countries to “harmonize” food safety standards. The U.S. has already had a taste of this type of policy under the North American Free Trade Act (NAFTA). Among the many gifts to Big Ag contained in the TTIP and TPP? Why the secrecy? Track.”
MONSANTO Now Owns BLACKWATER | World Truth A report by Jeremy Scahill in The Nation (Blackwater’s Black Ops, 9/15/2010) revealed that the largest mercenary army in the world, Blackwater (now called Xe Services) clandestine intelligence services was sold to the multinational Monsanto. Blackwater was renamed in 2009 after becoming famous in the world with numerous reports of abuses in Iraq, including massacres of civilians. It remains the largest private contractor of the U.S. Department of State “security services,” that practices state terrorism by giving the government the opportunity to deny it. Many military and former CIA officers work for Blackwater or related companies created to divert attention from their bad reputation and make more profit selling their nefarious services-ranging from information and intelligence to infiltration, political lobbying and paramilitary training – for other governments, banks and multinational corporations. * The author is a researcher at ETC Group Eddie (2112 Posts)

Carissa Sharpe How the Pentagon Removes Entire Peoples David Swanson | Globalsearch | June 9th 2013 If we think at all about our government’s military depopulating territory that it desires, we usually think of the long-ago replacement of native Americans with new settlements during the continental expansion of the United States westward. Here in Virginia some of us are vaguely aware that back during the Great Depression poor people were evicted from their homes and their land where national parks were desired. Occasionally we notice that environmental disasters are displacing people, often poor people or marginalized people, from their homes. If we’re aware of the 1,000 or so U.S. military bases standing today in some 175 foreign countries, we must realize that the land they occupy could serve some other purpose in the lives of those countries’ peoples. At issue here are not the bombings or burnings of entire villages, which of course the United States engages in during its wars and its non-wars. During World War II the U.S.
