Fifty Ways to Take Notes

Fifty Ways to Take Notes
I am constantly writing notes. Whether it be for my blog, work, meeting, new ideas, or just basic notes, I am always jotting something down. So I started thinking about all the services I’ve used for taking notes and thought it would be a good idea to share them with you and while I’m at it, to make a list of any others that I find. Now, when it comes to note taking, I personally look for quick and simple. If I have something on my mind, I don’t want to go through some advanced system and climb a mountain just to save a note for myself. There won’t be all the note taking tools out there on my list, but ones that I feel get the job done well. Quick Public Pages Using a quick public page service, as I call it, is my favorite method of saving notes on the go. ShortText – Fill in your text, click save, and you’ve got yourself a permanent url to a text note. Basic Note Taking Quick public pages aren’t really made for note-taking, although they work really well for it. Like this Article?

Six Degrees of Wikipedia Ever heard of the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon? If you haven't, it works like this: Every actor gets a Kevin Bacon number. Kevin Bacon has a Kevin Bacon number of 0, actors who were in a movie with Kevin Bacon get a Kevin Bacon number of 1, actors who were in a movie with someone who has a Kevin Bacon number 1 get a 2, and so on (Everybody always gets the smallest number possible, so if you were in a film with two people, one with a 4 and one with a 6, your Kevin Bacon number would be 5). The same idea could apply to the articles Wikipedia.

Perl 5.8 Documentation - USING LOCALES The use locale pragma By default, Perl ignores the current locale. The use locale pragma tells Perl to use the current locale for some operations: The comparison operators (lt, le, cmp, ge, and gt) and the POSIX string collation functions strcoll() and strxfrm() use LC_COLLATE. sort() is also affected if used without an explicit comparison function, because it uses cmp by default. Selling Yourself: Why? and How! I know many good developers who are under the impression that they either don’t have to sell themselves, or selling themselves is wrong, but is that really true? First let me clarify by defining what I mean by “selling yourself”. I don’t mean “selling out”, I mean marketing yourself, what you’re doing and what your skills are.

Developing Intelligence : Caffeine: A User's Guide to Getting Optimally Wired Caffeine is the most widely used stimulant in the world, but few use it to maximal advantage. Get optimally wired with these tips. 1) Consume in small, frequent amounts. Between 20-200mg per hour may be an optimal dose for cognitive function. Caffeine crosses the blood-brain barrier quickly (owing to its lipid solubility) although it can take up to 45 minutes for full ingestion through the gastro-intestinal tract. Under normal conditions, this remains stable for around 1 hour before gradually clearing in the following 3-4 hours (depending on a variety of factors).
