Indicadores Sociales Demos | Publications Ensuring value for money in public service delivery is now a more pressing policy concern than ever before. Measures of social value, which take into account wider ‘value added’ impacts and softer outcomes, are increasingly replacing narrow financial returns as funders and commissioners seek ever more ‘bang for their buck’. This is particularly the case for the third sector, where often unquantified social returns can be far greater than in the commercial world, and whose role in delivering public services has grown apace in the last few years, and sets to continue. This report provides a snapshot of the third sector’s ability to measure and communicate the social value of the services it provides.

Social Solutions Company Overview Company Mission To Challenge and Equip Organizations to Turn Good Intent into Measurable Change by Relating Efforts to Outcomes. Company Overview For years, the founders of Social Solutions, Steve Butz, Adrian Bordone, and Vince Griffith, worked on the human services frontlines helping At-Risk Youth. Like other human service professionals, they grappled with a common dilemma: How do we know if our efforts make an actual difference in the individuals we serve? Understanding that outcomes are not achieved without effort, the founders developed a non profit software solution that makes it possible to relate their service delivery efforts with their desired outcomes. With this software they were able to monitor the effectiveness of their efforts and understand where they were having the greatest impact. This understanding allowed them to adjust their service model, identify and replicate best practices, and report their successes. ETO® Software Benefits

Telstra sets sights on apps In an effort to combat stagnant mobile revenues. Australia's largest telecommunications company, Telstra, is building a new global applications and platforms business. The company announced today that the new division will be part of the Innovation, Products, and Marketing unit headed up by Group Managing Director Kate McKenzie. McKenzie said that it was vital the new business be agile to cope with rapid changes to the industry. "Telstra is moving from providing mobile and internet services to encompassing applications and integrated services. "The new business will operate as a startup company drawing on the considerable assets of the broader organisation. The company will recruit new employees and bring over some existing staff, including the applications marketplace and experience design team, and the E2E Industry Verticals team. "The team will work alongside our Applications and Ventures group, which will continue to focus on important ventures activities," she said.
Home Telstra enters app market with new Global Applications and Platforms business as NBN rollout continues Telstra has announced that it is increasing its focus on software and applications, away from being a mobile and internet carrier, with the launch of a new Global Applications and Platforms business. The news comes as Telstra moves away from its traditional role as a legacy POTS service provider as the NBN rollout continues. It also continues a move, begun under former chief executive Sol Trujillo, of repositioning the telco giant as a media communications company. The new division will be headed up by Telstra’s former group managing director of strategic marketing, Kate McKenzie, and will operate as a new start-up. “Our industry is changing rapidly. The future is in the software layer and there is an application for absolutely everything,” McKenzie says. “With successful over-the-top players growing exponentially, we need to continue to find ways to take challenger positions in this space. “It will include a mix of existing and new employees and I expect it to grow over time.
