Much to my surprise, he was up for the task, so we embarked on designing a Mason jar herb and plant garden. Since installation, it's worked very well, and I'm happy to report that all plants are alive, thriving and well. The key with Mason jars (since they don’t have natural drainage) is to include stones and charcoal on the bottom to help create “drainage” on the inside of the jar. You’ll need 10 key items in order to create your mason jar herb garden: Wooden boardWall adhesiveTapcon screwsHose clampsCable staplesMason jarsSoilCharcoalStonesPlants Find a piece of reclaimed wood to serve as the base or plaque for the wall. Place the hose clamps on the wooden board. Place the wooden board on the wall so you can get a sense of where you would like to position it. After the wooden boards are in place, use a wall adhesive to secure boards. Use Tapcon screws to secure boards. Measure where the center of the hose clamps should be on board and secure them into place with 3’4” cable staple.

You will need: An electric drill with a hole cutting bit that will cut a 5 – 7cm holeA 2 or 3mm drillbit for the watering pipeA length of PVC downpipe 100mm or 150mm diameter.
