Spinach Lemonade Juice This is a good juice to try if you have a lot of extra leftover spinach that is about to go bad, or if it’s on super sale at the grocery store… it uses 8 cups! The juice is sweetened naturally with the addition of a pear and a couple of granny smith apples. But, if you like your lemonade really sweet you could add in a couple drizzles of stevia into your glass at the end. But, I prefer it with all the lemon-y goodness shining through! I just love how green and refreshing this juice is, even on a winter’s day. Ingredients:8 cups spinach2 lemons1⁄2 cucumber1 pear 2 granny smith apples Directions:1.) 2.) 3.)
The Burlap Bag - High Quality Handmade Goods Shop - Austin Texas This is so cool. Yes, I know I always say that. BUT SERIOUSLY, it’s amazing. And WHY HASN’T ANYONE EVER TOLD ME THIS?! You can BAKE eggs and they will come out exactly (if not better!) Yes, I’ve read all those tutorials of “the perfect hard-boiled egg”. Why baking them is awesome: Stick them in the oven for 30 minutes. And that’s it! That photo has no purpose. NOTE: When you bake eggs, the shells will get little brown dots. After 30 minutes: Get a huge bowl of ice water. And check out these eggs. So go enjoy 30 minutes today while you’re baking some hard boiled eggs. After previewing my draft of this, Josiah said eggcellent. *edit.
Aguas Frescas Can I pleeeeeeeeeease meet the man or woman who invented Agua Fresca? I’ve got a hug, a kiss, a handshake and a future newborn that I’d like to name after them. I’m serious. Ok, so perhaps I’ll never meet the person who decided to add fresh chunks of fruit to water and ice. We’ve been running around East Los Angeles quite a bit lately and our taco and mole journeys inspired us to come up with a few aguas frescas ourselves. Pineapple Ginger Agua FrescaIt’s so interesting to me how pineapple and ginger become light and delicate without losing their flare when diluted with plenty of ice and water. Ginger Simple Syrup 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 cup water 3 pieces of fresh ginger cut into coins Bring water and sugar to a boil and then add the pieces of ginger. For the Drink: 4 cups fresh pineapple with 2-4 cups of water to blend 8-10 cups of water Puree the fruit and water in batches and then strain to remove any seeds or pulp. Cucumber Lemongrass Agua FrescaAh, my heart be still!

Crock Pot Breakfast Casserole Crock Pot Breakfast Casserole is the perfect breakfast for feeding a crowd. Hearty and so delicious! Can you believe Thanksgiving is just over a week away?! Usually my family and I kick the holiday off by watching the Macy’s parade with cold mimosas in one hand, and Mini Cinnamon Rolls in the other before getting into our annual showdown over playing Scrabble, followed by feasting on my Mom’s traditional Thanksgiving dinner later that afternoon. I am not mad at that! The men don’t last too long on cinnamon rolls alone though (and need something to soak up all those mimosas!) This year, however, we’ve got a more concrete game plan. This crock pot breakfast casserole is so good that my Mom has made it twice in the last month, first when my Grandma and Aunt were in town and again a couple weeks later for Evie’s baptism, then I made it for Ben and myself last Saturday morning to eat and reheat all weekend long. It is such a crowd pleaser, not to mention could not be simpler to make.
End of School Year Strawberry Lemonade — Savor The Thyme - Food, Family a... It happened again: another child completed another year of school. Last Friday we celebrated my son completing preschool and this Friday, my daughter completed first grade. A brave smile was on my face when I shared in my daughter’s excitement as we piled into the van after the school bell rang. I am a sappy nostalgic person that is full of pride but knows with that final first grade bell, we are closer to her to being a ’grown-up’. Now that those feelings are out there, let’s all celebrate health and togetherness with some semi-homemade strawberry lemonade. I spied a pretty bottle of preservative free, no HFCS lemonade and decided to pair it with the quart of organic strawberries I had also just purchased. Please note that one of our adult guests discovered that this recipe is further enhanced with gin. Strawberry Lemonade 1.75 liters lemonade (I used Mayer Brothers) 16 oz. organic strawberries, rinsed, hulled and chopped roughly. 1 lemon, sliced (optional) Directions 1. 2. 3.
