Math Games Ever wonder what to do with the kids who always finish early?? Well, during math time, my students get to play math games. When they finish their independent work, I look over their papers to check for understanding. When I know they've got it, I assign them a partner, and they play math games. The partner group chooses the game they would like to play for the remainder of math time. I use a pocket chart that has 10 slots (I think it was originally made to hold cd's). Interactive Whiteboards and Web Tools Interactive whiteboards are more than just glorified overhead projectors - the interactive tools allow teachers to create lessons that actively engage students in creative ways. They also allow us to use a variety of interactive web 2.0 tools with our students in a way that allows all students to participate actively. I hope to add more items to this page throughout the year - great links to other websites and my favorite Smartboard files. Second Grade Style: math games My Math Games Posts Part 1 and Part 2 are some of my most visited posts on my blog. I love math games! My kiddos last year loved them too! They begged to do Math Games! So it got pushed back until after school started. Our first unit for math is numbers in base ten/place value. Flash Cards - of course. The ever popular Bump from Sunny Days - My kiddos love, love, love this game! Addition Jenga - Picked up this original Jenga set at the flea market for $3 and then downloaded the free labels from Minds In Bloom. The kiddos simply build the jenga cube as usual and then when they remove a piece they have to solve it. Place Value Bulls Eye from What The Teacher Wants - I think this is my personal favorite because it helps the kiddos practice expanded form and because it's so fun! Slides and Ladders from First Grade a la Carte - To practice doubles facts! Last but certainly not least in my kiddos' eyes is Power Towers - They absolutely love this! That's the beginning of the year line up.
Prisme intéractif A right prism is a polyhedron that has two congruents pararel polygonal faces (bases of the prism) and with all remaining faces are rectangles. The main interest of this page is to see how a right prism can be developed into a plane net. There is a platonic solid that is a prism, the cube. This is a cube net: The lateral surface area of a prism is the sum of the areas of the rectangles that form the faces that are not bases of the prism. We can calculate the lateral surface area of a right prism (p is the perimeter of a base and h is the height of the prism): In the examples above bases were regular polygons. A non-regular hexagonal prism: And its plane net: Another example, plane net of a non-regular triangular prism: The formula for calculating the lateral surface area is the same as before.
