The Bromley Contingent.- The Sex Pistols earliest punk fans featuring among others Siouxie , Billy Idol and Steve Severin .With rare pictures and Bill Grundy interview While the music and image of punk was being formed by McLaren / the Sex Pistols and Vivien Westwood's clothes there were two other groups of people who would contribute to the scene. One was the loose pool of musicians like Mick Jones, Tony James and various members of the Damned and Clash etc who would be sparked into action by the Pistols and a group of fans who would come to be associated closely with the Sex Pistols many of whom would themselves form bands as the Pistols roller coaster trundled on. This group of fans would come to be known as the Bromley Contingent and featured among others Siouxsie, Debbie, Soo Catwoman, Simon Barker, Sharon, Tracey, Billy Idol, Steve Severin to name a few and lovingly described in 'The Boy Looked At Johnny' by Burchill / Parsons as 'a posse of unrepentant poseurs, committed to attaining fame despite the paucity of talent other than being noticed; achieving their aim by displaying themselves in a manner meticulously calculated to kill.'

As a lover of natural textures and literal translations of beauty, I am completely embraced by the above print. Through relief printing and a laborious rubbing technique Byran created the above piece Hemlock 82 (Bryan literally scratched his fingernails over every surface of the tree). At the grand size of 52″ long x 38.5″ wide the actual diameter, texture and pattern of this tree section is gorgeously translated onto paper. Living next to an old mill, Bryan is able to procure beautiful specimens to his studio. The above image shows Bryan preparing the surface of a Hemlock tree cross section into a print block. Ink is rolled out and a piece of handcrafted washi paper is placed over the print block. When meeting and writing about the artists whose work we represent on Ashes & Milk I enjoy the opportunity to learn new things and to engage in a sort of personal self reflection.

ISO50 Blog – The Blog of Scott Hansen (Tycho / ISO50) » The blog of Scott Hansen (aka ISO50 / Tycho) The Egg The Egg By: Andy Weir You were on your way home when you died. It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. And that’s when you met me. “What… what happened?” “You died,” I said, matter-of-factly. “There was a… a truck and it was skidding…” “Yup,” I said. “I… I died?” “Yup. You looked around. “More or less,” I said. “Are you god?” “Yup,” I replied. “My kids… my wife,” you said. “What about them?” “Will they be all right?” “That’s what I like to see,” I said. You looked at me with fascination. “Don’t worry,” I said. “Oh,” you said. “Neither,” I said. “Ah,” you said. “All religions are right in their own way,” I said. You followed along as we strode through the void. “Nowhere in particular,” I said. “So what’s the point, then?” “Not so!” I stopped walking and took you by the shoulders. “You’ve been in a human for the last 48 years, so you haven’t stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consciousness. “Oh lots.
