Ruby Press » When we find something we love, we want to tell everyone! Hello friends! We’re sorry to say that for now we must take a hiatus from the Ruby Press blog. We started this blog back in 2008 and it has been instrumental in the meeting of many dear friends and making of many wonderful connections. We still love blogging- don’t get us wrong! D.I.Y. Curls // How To Rag Roll Your Hair I love the look of naturally curly hair! My sweet friend, Katie, told me about rag rolling. It's a quick and simple way to get natural looking curls without using a curling iron! I asked her to share her method here on A Beautiful Mess because I knew you'd be itching to learn like I was! Enjoy... You'll need some cut fabric strips, a comb and some water.
Oh Joy! Our friends over at Black Hogg here in Los Angeles recently started serving some amazing sandwiches for lunch. The restaurant is right by my house so I'm pretty addicted to their sandwiches and their homemade chocolate chip cookies (which blow my mind and are currently my favorite cookie of choice). Made with the addition of Cap'n Crunch cereal and peanut butter chips on top of regular chocolate chips, it's a chewy crunchy protein-packaged cookie I can't get enough of. style files, canadian house & home Thanks to Canadian House and Home (and specifically, Style Files Editor, Kimberley Brown) for mentioning us in their latest trends issue (January '09)! The Style Files section features four Canadain Design blogs the magazine lists as their favourites. We are truly honoured to be included and are mentioned along with Ottawa's Desire to Inspire, Montreal's Lake Jane, and Toronto's Arren Williams.
bawkbawkbawk Chateaux in France Fulfilling any childhood fantasy of being royalty might be easier than you think with a trip to a few spectacular Chateaux in France. Chateau Chambord Hidden in the center of a forest is the Chateau Chambord. The City Sage Anyone who knows me even passingly well knows that I have two favorite foods. The first, ice cream, stirs me to such a frenzy that I could devote not a single post but an entire blog to its greatness. And the second has known me to walk the length of a city and wait in line for hours simply for its light, spongy, maple-soaked promise.
Justina Blakeney A CUP OF JO As Ink Remains // BLOG Guys, it’s Fall. And can I just say that it’s been the most beautiful Fall… The air is perfectly crisp, the sunshine is still strong, and layering is at an all time high (layers are probably how I like to dress the best. {BLACK. WHITE. YELLOW.} An Apple a Day I'm in awe that new years keep on happening and with greater frequency than ever before. Meaningless perhaps, only a date on a calendar, but I put a lot of stock in new beginnings so January first will always mean something here. 2011 was full and beautiful and also so altering that I'm struggling to make sense of it. Bite-sized chunks will have to do. I worshiped Elmwood. I woke up to see the sunrise and fell asleep swatting mosquitoes.
clever nettle - vintage & fashion in portland, oregon A few misc film images that I like as a group. Organic shapes, petals, creatures, and some good colors. I – A double exposure of Sydney from a Yo Vintage shoot, maybe even two years ago, at the old Fieldwork Flowers HQ. II – Megan’s flower crown leading our way to Victoria, from our little roadtrip up there earlier this year for Crystal Visions. Rachel has been posting a few photos from last year’s party on her instagram, which you should follow.
