How to Be the Perfect Host in the 21st Century

Set Up a Fully Automated, Torrent-Seeding Media Center SExpand @macrumpton: Click the image for the full size to see what I'm talking about. Here's a side-by-side shot of Miro and MPC, both playing the same frame of "Pioneer One" S01E01 720p (h264) mkv file. Notice the difference in quality. Even if you don't want to go the media center route, and are content with Miro for downloading, I highly suggest you get a good graphics card (if you need one) and a separate program to decode and play back the files. Miro is not comparable to a true Media Center by any stretch of the imagination. Things Miro is lacking: • Good support for remotes and internet/eventserver based control for phones. • Proper databasing (sort by name, aired date, release date, actor, genre, MPAA/TV rating, duration...) • Auto-discovery of missing supplemental media (Fanart, screen caps, cover art, subtitles and lyrics etc.) • Boot as an OS for HTPCs • User login with parental controls • Scripting and skinning extensability • Media flagging

OK. No ale odbiegam od tematu. Podatki System podatkowy Rwandy można porównać do węzła gordyjskiego. Podatek dochodowy: Ha! Ha! Kary

20 Things I Wish I Had Known When Starting Out in Life | zen habits “Everything has been figured out, except how to live.” - Jean-Paul Sartre I’m nearly 35 years old, and I’ve made my share of mistakes in my life. I’m not a big believer in regrets … and I have learned tremendously from every single mistake … and my life is pretty great. However, there are a few things I wish I had known when I was graduating from high school and starting out as an adult in life. Would I change things? I might not have gotten married that first time, so that I would never have gotten divorced … but then I wouldn’t have my first two beautiful wonderful incredible children from that first marriage. I don’t think I would change any of that. What follows isn’t an exhaustive list, but it’s one that I hope proves useful to at least a few people. “I hope life isn’t a big joke, because I don’t get it.” - Jack Handey How to control impulse spending. “Let us so live that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.” - Mark Twain

How to Get Rid of Ear Mites I used to think pets that walked in circles and attacked their ears were cute, until I did a little bit of research about getting rid of ear mites (Otodectes cynotis). Ear mites are a bit scary, actually, if they’re allowed to do enough damage to your pet. As it turns out, cats and dogs can get an infection from ear mites if they aren’t treated, doing damage to their middle ear which throws off their balance and either causes them to not walk or to walk in circles constantly. Worse still, ear mites have been implicated as the cause of allergic reactions similar to those of dust mites. In fact, many people who test positive for dust mite allergies also test positive for ear mite allergies. Luckily for you, ear mites are relatively easy to treat yourself. Master the Art of Working Remotely - Gina Trapani by Gina Trapani | 10:23 AM June 16, 2009 Over the past five years I’ve worked off-site and online for employers across the country using email, chat, and web-based collaboration apps. My work life has been the envy of my traditional nine-to-five friends. While they suit up in an office-appropriate outfit, grab the briefcase, and brave a commute every weekday, I get to work from home (and my employers get to save money on office space). But working with people in different cities and time zones with minimal face time presents a whole new set of challenges. Sharpen your email skills. Be “present” via instant messenger or Web-based chat. Collaborate online with the tools that best fit your client and project. Set up regular voice or video chat check-ins. Have you managed freelancers online only, or worked off-site yourself?

Schmoozing 101: Tips for shy techies Gail Farnsley seems like a natural at networking. She made it part of her regular work schedule while an IT executive, and it's now part of her current job in academia. But Farnsley, a visiting professor at Purdue University's College of Technology in West Lafayette, Ind., says her networking skills didn't come easily. An introvert by nature, she says she was sick with nerves the first time she had to speak to the board of directors at one of her former employers. Nearly everyone has been unnerved at some time or another when meeting new people. But those who are introverted, shy or both usually have a more difficult time than others when faced with networking, says Naomi Karten, principal of Karten Associates in Randolph, Mass., and author of the e-book How to Survive, Excel and Advance as an Introvert. "In general, introverts are less likely to initiate a conversation," she says. Not to worry. 1. "It has that connotation that if you're good at networking, you must be good at schmoozing.

Use a Grocery Price Book to Slash Your Food Spending While reading Amy Dacyczyn’s The Complete Tightwad Gazette this afternoon, I learned a great new money hack. Dacyczyn (pronounced “decision”) advocates using a grocery price book to save big bucks at the supermarket. A grocery price book is an ongoing list of the items you most commonly purchase and how much you paid for them. This list allows you to detect price cycles, spot bargains, and plan your shopping trips for maximum savings. Dacyczyn explains: My price book is a small loose-leaf binder. I began by writing down prices on sale flyers and from my grocery slips. When Dacyczyn first published this technique nearly twenty years ago, personal computers were not ubiquitous. If you’d rather start a paper-based price book, OrganizedHome.Com has a free printable price book page.
