Since it took place not far from the Crazy Horse I had no difficulties in finding the venue. My colleagues had come the day before by car because they had to bring books and magazines and especially the OSPV1, our open-source auto-balancing two-wheeled vehicle that we were to present. The OSPV1 self balancing vehicle The Forum was held in a rather high-class venue that had been paid for by a very impressive collection of sponsors in one of those rich “quartiers” of Paris where you get more easily run over by a Ferrari then by a Peugeot. The ambiance was quite arty and inspiring with many great projects being showed off. I was a bit disappointed by the number of visitors.

Evola Emerging topics from Open World Forum on Internet of Things Natacha Roussel from Council hosted the two IoT sessions in Paris at OWF. Emerging topics are: Security issues; keep our data as close to us as possible. Systemic questions: how to create meaningfull networks of people able to understand and underpin the functionning system as well as it's symbolic value. Identity issues; further than security how our spreaded identity is suppose to balance in reality. Community issues; how to ground apps in real life using already existant community structures. Practical applications are starting to be into place to prototype widely new concepts of communicant features. An most interesting topic emerging from our workshop was the "right to mod your devices" also known as "homebrew scene". We will take these issues up further in a session at IMAL in Brussels (tba) Watch the video of the session.

Composants électroniques et robotiques | GoTronic i, quaid › Paris and Milan – Open World Forum and FUDCon For my first trip out of North America, I’m very excited to be talking at Open World Forum on a panel about community citizenship, in Paris at the end of September. The following weekend I’ll attend FUDCon Milan, where I hope to stir up some cloud community discussions. So how about that for a first European trip? We had to wait until nearly the last minute to plan this trip, since I want to take my wife … and if she can’t go, that means I have reason to stay home. Hand-in-hand like that. Part of this trip is that from Sunday 25 September through Thursday 29 September, I’ll be working early in the day in Parisian cafes, and spending the evening with my wife and whatever friends we make as we go. Debora has a passion for the French language, which she has studied since she was a child, but has never visited France. So I’m looking for whoever I know, or friends of friends, to help us find what artistic, musical, underground (restaurant?
