Inspired by Yulia Brodskaya I can't get over how amazing these are. I wouldn't be surprised if Yulia invented quilling. She is a 28 year old artist from Moscow who creates beautiful designs from vertical pieces of thin paper and her website is full of inspiration in color, line, shadow and technique. You don't have to be a fellow quiller to wish you were like this great lady. Even though her pieces would be amazing if they were drawn, it was the fact that they are 3d that caught my attention. I imagine one of her expert pieces would take hours, which I do not have... When my husband and I were engaged, I bought wooden letters to spell out 'save the date' and covered them with different patterned paper. (I couldn't resist showing our cute picture) The letters were already covered (I know, I didn't post a diy... I picked out 4 colors of paper that went with the colors in the pattern and had them cut into 1/2" strips. In hindsight, I would choose a letter that had a meaning. I only have an h.

Crayon art :) they are all over pinterest....(i still am not signed up for pinterest because i don't have time for one more thing but browsing is fun!) so we made one. i took a box of 64 crayons and took out the blacks and browns.i used another small box and doubled up on the good colors i liked and hot glued them to the top of our canvas. then we turned our blow dryer to hot on high. not long after you set the hair dryer by the crayons they get shiny and then the wax starts to melt! and it dries really quickly too. seriously. what could be happier than this?? GREAT project. loved it today is the first FULL day with ALL my kids in ALL day school.yeah...i am smiling as i type that. it's good. it's quiet. i am rockin' it. removing wallpaper.....making code for craft weekend stuff.....doing my hair....going to lunch..... it's all good. hooray for school!

We will start with the shape of the petal then using the Gradient Mesh we will add the mesh points and color it. After this, we will compose the flower followed by the stamens in the center. For them, we will use a custom Scatter Brush along with the Transform effect and the Gradient Mesh of course. Launch Illustrator then go to File > New to open a new blank document. First, grab the Ellipse Tool (L) and draw an 18 x 75px ellipse having a simple stroke. Starting from the shape obtained at the previous step you can create different petals. Now, select using the Direct Selection Tool (A) only the anchor point from the left and move it a little to the left. Grab the copy that I've mentioned earlier and modify it to create the second petal. You can create only one petal but for variety reasons I decided to go with two. Now you have the two petals.

So inspired by that trend, I'd like to show you how to create your own design, from a stock image, in Adobe Illustrator. 1. Step 1 It all starts with a cute stock image.
