Cloud Explorer Underwater habitat German underwater laboratory, "Helgoland", ca. 1969 Underwater habitats are underwater structures in which people can live for extended periods and carry out most of the basic human functions of a 24-hour day, such as working, resting, eating, attending to personal hygiene, and sleeping. In this context 'habitat' is generally used in a narrow sense to mean the interior and immediate exterior of the structure and its fixtures, but not its surrounding marine environment. Most early underwater habitats lacked regenerative systems for air, water, food, electricity, and other resources. However, recently some new underwater habitats allow for these resources to be delivered using pipes, or generated within the habitat, rather than manually delivered.[1] An underwater habitat has to meet the needs of human physiology and provide suitable environmental conditions, and the one which is most critical is breathing air of suitable quality. Authors, Are You Too Old to Make It? Most writers are hoping for recognition of one sort or another. You believe in yourself and hope to “make it” one day. But with every passing year we get older and we begin to fear that our big opportunities have slipped away. Is your age an attribute or handicap? You’re a writer, not a teen-pop musician. And yet—age is still a sensitive subject in the literary world. In the editor’s notes for the most recent issue of Poets & Writers, you’ll find two cases of authors who are self-conscious about their age. But here’s the truth of it: worrying about your age, and about what the world expects of you at various phases of your life—those are commercial concerns. Whatever aspects of a literary life you think you’ve missed the boat on (meeting agents, making connections, wowing the world as some precocious wunderkind, looking beautiful in your head-shot, etc.) Slow simmer vs. flash fry I take comfort in the fact that someone 40 years old is still considered a “young poet.” How about you? P.S.

About Chris Robley Best frenemy of mocha milkshakes The LA Times, Boston Globe, San Francisco Examiner, and others have said nice things about my music. NPR says: “Dark, romantic strains take flight. Wait—music? Well, I’ve also written poems that have been published (or are forthcoming) in POETRY, Prairie Schooner, Beloit Poetry Journal, RHINO, Magma Poetry, Pacifica Literary Review, Arsenic Lobster, and more. I also edit YRTEOP.COM (“POETRY” spelled backwards)—home to poet interviews, poetry news, and 1-Minute Poem Reports. As marketing coordinator for CD Baby and BookBaby (distributors of independent music and books) I also manage/edit the DIY Musician Blog which sees over 100k unique visits per month, as well as the new BookBaby Blog (where you currently reside online). Content never sleeps.
Weekly Poetry News and 1-Minute Poem Reports | Yrteop PanelPicker Voting period for this idea type has passed Online communities have become big business- so big that many social media and publishing platforms are making huge investments in teaching their users to become more active community participants. In some cases, companies are even directly paying community members to participate in educational programs. This approach diverges from the traditional means by which education is delivered (an exchange in which learners pay and educators earn). Why switch things up? Websites should pay their community members to learn for the same reasons companies should invest in employee development. HubPages CEO Paul Edmondson will share how online communities aren’t so different from the companies we work for every day, and will also detail the multifaceted benefits of shifting our educational payment paradigm, which include more vibrant, evangelistic communities, effective and empowered users, and a virtuous cycle that benefits all parties involved.
