Perfect for Backpackers, Scrubba is a Washing Machine that Fits in Your Pocket (Video) One of the biggest hassles of backpacking is finding a way to get your sweat-soaked clothes clean. A local laundromat? Sure that’s an option, but what if you’re in the middle of nowhere? Ashley Newland designed a bag to wash clothes while climbing Mt. The Scrubba weighs about 180 grams. Type n’Walk App Keeps You Safe while Texting and Walking If you’ve ever tripped, bumped into something or come close to getting hit by a car while walking and texting, this app is for you. Type ‘n Walk lays your keyboard and text box over a visual of what your iPhone’s camera sees, so you no longer have to worry about stepping into that puddle or getting hit by that bus while keeping in touch on the go. The app has actually been in the iTunes store since 2009, but was updated in February. $.99 is a reasonable price, and the reviews are pretty solid, averaging three and a half stars, out of five. Of course, to make it really work, you’d have to hold the phone at eye level while texting- so the safety upside is somewhat offset by the risk of looking a bit odd.

Filabot Recycles Plastic, Prints 3D Printing Material January 19th, 2013 by Lambert Varias Even though they’re much more awesome than conventional printers, 3D printers still need “ink”, or what is known as filament. While this can come in many forms – sand, chocolate, living cells – most projects require plastic filament. That’s the idea behind Tyler McNaney’s invention, the Filabot. Tyler already raised $32,330 (USD) from a recent Kickstarter campaign, where he sold Filabots for as low as $350 (USD) each. PaperTab | Shiny New Want Posted On: January 11, 2013 Posted In: Computer, paper, screen, vdu Comments: 6 Responses Cambridge, UK and Kingston, Canada – January 7, 2013: Watch out tablet lovers: An amazing new flexible paper computer developed at Queen’s University in collaboration with Plastic Logic and Intel Labs will revolutionize the way people work with tablets and computers. The PaperTab tablet looks and feels just like a sheet of paper. However, it is fully interactive with a flexible, high-resolution 10.7″ plastic display developed by Plastic Logic, a flexible touchscreen, and powered by the second generation Intel® Core i5 processor. Instead of using several apps or windows on a single display, users have ten or more interactive displays or “papertabs”: one per app in use. “Using several PaperTabs makes it much easier to work with multiple documents,” says Roel Vertegaal, director of Queen’s University’s Human Media Lab.
