Organizational differences may be motivated by historical reasons. Other criteria include security, including how quickly security upgrades are available; ease of package management; and number of packages available. These tables compare each actively and noteworthy distribution's latest stable release on wide-ranging objective criteria. General[edit] Basic general information about the distributions: creator or producer, release date, latest version, and such. p.mapper - a MapServer PHP/MapScript Framework CityMax - The Original All-In-One Website Builder - Home IAX versus SIP Date: Mon, 5 Jul 2004 18:59:52 -0500 (CDT)From: Mark Spencer Let me summarize some differences between SIP and IAX, and it might help you make a decision about what is best for you. 1) IAX is more efficient on the wire than RTP for any number of calls, any codec. The benefit is anywhere from 2.4k for a single call to approximately tripling the number of calls per megabit for G.729 when measured to the MAC level when running trunk mode. 2) IAX is information-element encoded rather than ASCII encoded. This makes implementations substantially simpler and more robust to buffer overrun attacks since absolutely no text parsing or interpretation is required. 3) IAX has a very clear layer2 and layer3 separation, meaning that both signaling and audio have defined states, are robustly transmitted in a consistent fashion, and that when one end of the call abruptly disappears, the call WILL terminate in a timely fashion, even if no more signaling and/or audio is received. 7) SIP is an IETF standard.

I hope this helps you with your selection of a license for your open source initiative. Pretext Previously I had my open source projects listed in SourceForge.net, and the last one I worked on was pretty long ago. Recently I took on a few more initiatives to release some of the libraries that I developed as open source projects and a new open source project for file synchronization. I am used to write the license myself for the software. The Licenses In Discussion I am going to discuss the following licenses: 1. The Basis of Open Source Licensing Open source does not mean free software, but often is associated with it. Comparison Summary The chart below shows a basic comparison of explicitly stated items among different open source licenses (click to enlarge) Hope this helps to have an overview of the licenses
