Digital storytelling Digital storytelling refers to a short form of digital media production that allows everyday people to share aspects of their life story. "Media" may include the digital equivalent of film techniques (full-motion video with sound), animation, stills, audio only, or any of the other forms of non-physical media (material that exists only as electronic files as opposed to actual paintings or photographs on paper, sounds stored on tape or disc, movies stored on film) which individuals can use to tell a story or present an idea. Introduction[edit] "Digital storytelling" is a relatively new term which describes the new practice of ordinary people who use digital tools to tell their 'story'. One can define digital storytelling as the process by which diverse peoples share their life story and creative imaginings with others. One can think of digital storytelling as the modern extension of the ancient art of storytelling, now interwoven with digitized still and moving images and sound.

12 Ways to Improve Your Digital Storytelling I recently was reading Sally Hogshead’s latest book, How the World Sees You, when I was shocked by one of her insights. More specifically: an insight gleaned from her assessment tool meant to describe how I influence other people. I know I’m an analytical guy, and the assessment confirmed this. “You aren’t usually the life of the party at your annual get-together. Sally’s assessment hurts (primarily because it’s true). This led me down a rabbit hole of sorts: how do I compensate for the fact that peppering statistics into cocktail conversation doesn’t endear me to others? What I want to do it share twelve best practices that you can use to improve your storytelling. Why is storytelling important? Setting, plot, characters, conflict and theme. Ada Rios-Rivera, PhD - Relationship Mythology: Suspension of Belief “If we are only guided by other people’s thoughts what’s the point of having our own?” (Oscar Wilde) The other day I was answering a friend’s questions about relationship mythology. An alternative to therapy, Relationship Myth is a unique approach to couples work. The biggest advantage of this approach to relationship work is that every couple gets to be the authority on their relationship. But no matter what I said or how much I explained to her what a Mythological approach looked like, my friend’s “what does that mean” question, remained. stated best. Wilde’s quote urges us to consider our own questions and doubts as seriously as we take others’. So “what this means” is that we can use our own intuition, imagination, and even doubt to decide whether or not a perspective, an ideology, a political view, etc., is personally relevant. Making questions personal sheds new light on them and eliminates assumptions that many of us approach questions with.
Piano Tutorial: A Beginner's Guide to Music Theory for Playing Piano From Beethoven to Billy Joel, the humble piano has been a mainstay of western music since the 18th century. It has lent voice to the imaginations of composers like Mozart, Hummel, Elton John, and Philip Glass. Most of your favorite songs, from “Someone Like You” by Adele, to “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John, were written on the piano. Learning piano can be intimidating for the absolute beginner. The rich history and ‘aura’ surrounding the instrument (the guitar seems positively easy in comparison) can deter all but the most dedicated of students. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In this blog post, we will cover the absolute basics of music theory that you need to know to start playing piano. It’s okay if music theory intimidates you. But as it turns out, music theory is not only easy, but also very useful. On that note, let’s start with the theoretical bits you absolutely must know. Notes and Scales There are twelve basic notes or tones in Western music. Reading Music: Musical Notation Phew!
