A terme (12-24 mois ?)
Will Smart Contact Lenses Be the Bluetooth Headsets of the Future?
Imagine instant access to the latest market segment information at a meeting, or seeing the fourth quarter earnings for a company in (literally) the blink of an eye. Although it might sound like something from a science fiction novel, scientists at the University of Washington are working on solar powered contact lenses with transparent LEDs embedded onto the lens. This technology could be applied in countless ways, from health monitoring to text translation right in front of the wearer's eyes. In 2006, my team at SKD designed a very similar concept for our "Cautionary Visions" project. One of the results was an "Assisted Living Contact Lens" that would project helpful information, such as the calorie count for a chocolate scone, or a GPS map overlay locating the nearest gyms. Now it seems like our idea might become a reality. But I haven't asked that question in years. Relevance is the challenge that new technology developers face, and it’s an area where designers can add value.
Anonymous spokesman Barrett Brown lands a six figure book deal
By Hannah Roberts Updated: 11:40 GMT, 5 November 2011 But Barrett Brown has been more visible than ever this week, as he promoted his new book on the shadowy cooperative's activities and motivations. Brown appears to have cashed in on his connection to the controversial alliance of hacktivists- the former heroin addict from Dallas claims to have been paid a six figure sum for his forthcoming book. Spokesman: Barrett Brown, the 'Face' of Anonymous, has had a tiring week, promoting his forthcoming book for which he has signed a six figure deal Brown and fellow Anonymous associate, Gregg Housh have chosen to release the joint effort, provisionally titled: Anonymous: Tales From Inside The Accidental Cyberwar, with Amazon. The choice of publisher may jar with fellow activists, who will remember that Anonymous attacked Amazon only last year, after the giant bookseller booted Wikileaks off its servers. The assault, part of 'Operation Payback,' failed. Seemingly its now all water under the bridge.

If you consider yourself a geek, or aspire to the honor of geekhood, here’s an essential checklist of must-have geek skills. The term ‘geek’, once used to label a circus freak, has morphed in meaning over the years. What was once an unusual profession transferred into a word indicating social awkwardness. A techie geek is usually one who knows a little about everything, and is thus the person family and friends turn to whenever they have a question. Occupy to self manage
I have yet to see my nearest large occupation, Boston, or the precursor of all U.S. occupations, Wall Street. Instead, I have been on the road for the past six weeks in Thesselonika and Athens Greece; Istanbul and Diyarbikar Turkey; Lexington, Kentucky; London, England; Dublin, Ireland; and in Barcelona, Madrid, and Valencia Spain. In all these places, I talked with diverse individuals at many meetings and popular assemblies. I met people involved in occupations, as well as audiences assembled by my hosts to hear about participatory economics. Beyond addressing assigned topics, my own priority was to learn about local movements. Boredom, Disempowerment, and Consensus Obstruct Growth In Greece and Spain, a single message predominated. Yet I heard, time after time, that nothing had diminished regarding the population’s rejection of unfolding injustices. At the same time, new people, who were still far more prevalent, didn’t know what to do while they were occupying. Self Managements!
