CSS was never really a problem for me, in and of itself, but I was intrigued by the idea of using variables to create something along the lines of a color palette for my websites and themes. Having a color palette with a fixed number of options to choose from helps prevent me from going color crazy and deviating from a chosen style. As it turns out, LESS — and Sass for that matter — are so much more than that. Mixins – Classes for classes.Parametric mixins – Classes to which you can pass parameters, like functions.Nested Rules – Classes within classes, which cut down on repetitive code.Operations – Math within CSS.Color functions – Edit your colors.Namespaces – Groups of styles that can be called by references.Scope – Make local changes to styles.JavaScript evaluation – JavaScript expressions evaluated in CSS. Le rôle de ce script est d'ajouter automatiquement des préfixes propriétaires nécessaires à la reconnaissance de certaines propriétés de la spécification CSS3 par les différents navigateurs modernes. Mais quel est le problème ? Les propriétés CSS3 avancées sont intégrées dans les différents navigateurs de manière non concertée et selon le bon vouloir des développeurs de ces butineurs ! Pour ne pas entraver la prise en compte de ces propriétés non validées par le W3C on a autorisé une syntaxe personnalisée afin de permettre leur intégration progressive. Le choix a été fait d'utiliser un préfixe propriétaire pour identifier les propriétés CSS3 prises en compte par chaque type de navigateur (selon leur moteur de rendu). -webkit- (pour Chrome, Safari,…) -moz- (pour Firefox, Flock,…) -o- (pour Opera) -ms- (pour Internet Explorer)

For those who want a real understanding of the theory of grids in relation to design and typography, I strongly recommend this book. On the Columns tab, you can start your design in two ways: Fill in the number of columns, total width, gutters and margin widths, all specified in pixels - then press the design button. The grid preview on the Columns tab will display the widths of each area, in pixels. Use the Typography tab to adjust and calculate basic typographic settings for your design. Finally, on the Export tab, you can generate copy-and-paste ready CSS, and a sample XHTML template.
