Things to Make and Do, Crafts and Activities for Kids - The Crafty Crow: Kids Handmade Holiday Like many of you, this year we are doing an all handmade holiday. This includes the kids! My sister and I have seven kids between us and working together we came up with a big list of all the things that the kids could make for their siblings, cousins, parents, aunt, uncle, grandparents and friends. Toilet Paper Roll Wall Art « Made2Style Well that’s a mouthful! So the time has come, it’s Pinterest Challenge time again! Every season Sherry from YHL and Katie from Bower Power throw a little link party to get people to stop pinning things and actually start making. This was the image I saw that sparked me to start saving my toilet paper rolls. I literally have been saving my rolls for. ever. Here’s what my toilet paper wall art turned into! Ok let’s get down to the nitty gritty. Next, I cut them up. Then, I took 4 pieces and glued them together using a hot glue gun. I continued doing this until I had about 40. Then I took the mirror I was going to use (10″ mirror purchased at Joann’s for $8) and placed it on the floor and started adding all the circles around keeping in mind that I wanted to keep it in a circle. At this point when I looked at it I felt it resembled a snowflake so I had to figure out how to completely round it out. Once everything was attached I used command strips on the back of the mirror and hung it up!

DIY Dry shampoo has been a MUST HAVE in my daily hair care routine for the past three years. I’ve gone through countless spray cans of different brands (Psst!, Tresemme, John Frieda, Garnier, Oscar Blandi, Batiste…to name a few), spending way too much for very little product. I started to use plain old baby powder, sprinkling it directly on my roots and rubbing it in, and I found that it worked just as well or even better at giving my hair added volume and combating greasiness. I continued to do this for months until one day I was at work, and I happen to catch a glance of my hair in the mirror. THE RECIPE: Mix 3 parts cocoa powder and 1 part cornstarch and/or baby powder in a small container. Because this container works so well, I just hold the container in my hand and sprinkle the powder directly onto my roots and rub it in with my fingers. QUICK TIP: Did you know that the best way to use dry shampoo is to apply it BEFORE you actually need it?
DIY Marbled Glassware When graphic designer and artist Joanna Bean Martin shared with us her technique for marbling the bottoms of glassware with nail polish, we couldn’t wait to try it ourselves. Who knew it would be such an easy way to add color and pattern to your next tablescape or party? Remember, the brighter and bolder colors you use, the more the glasses will radiate and glow. Have fun! You’ll need:flat bottomed glasswarevariety of colorful nail polishclear nail polisha disposable plastic containernail polish removerpainters tapetoothpicks Mask off the bottom of the glass with painters tape. Fill a disposable, plastic container with water. Layer the colors one on top of the other. Submerge the bottom of the glass into the polish. Allow to dry completely before applying a layer of clear polish. Once everything has dried, remove the painters tape and touch up with nail polish remover and a cotton swab. Your glowing glasses are finished! Bottoms up!
EDDIE ROSS - No Wire Hangers! (Well, Maybe Just One) Here's a Christmas wreath so darling and dear, even Miss Crawford would approve. Take one of these... and bend it into the form of a circle. Then, grab your glue gun and as many round ornaments in varying sizes as you can find. To secure the metal cap to the ball, dab a little hot glue and press. Next, untwist the end of the hanger, then string one ornament at a time, making sure to alternate the placement and colors as desired. Check out the final result! Make-up Magnet Board We all know with craft blogs that original ideas are often hard to come by, we find ideas we love and make them our own but we didn't come up with the idea ourselves. I feel like I've finally done something original here and I'm excited about it. I'll show you the finished product and then explain. Behold my Make-up Magnet Board. I have a friend who is beautiful and stylish and has always loved make-up but recently took a course that intensified her love. The basket was a mess and I was overwhelmed with all my choices never knowing what to use, digging through to see what I had and find what I wanted was a pain. I painted it (The hard way, with a brush instead of spray paint. I went to the hardware store and picked up some metal and had them cut it to fit inside my frame. Here comes the brilliant part though. Here's the stash of eye shadows we're talking about (I've even added a couple since this picture). Next I wanted a place to store my brushes and liners though.
DIY Picture Tiles - You Will Never Buy a Photo Frame Again Lately I’ve been having this huge urge to decorate the house. This is big news. I do not decorate. Arguably, one of the reasons why is because I. absolutely. hate. to. buy. mass. produced. decor. Anyway, this extends to photo frames. Nope. Long story short, I discovered this method of transferring my photos cheaply, quickly, and beautifully to something uncommon and unique. Tiles. The only thing that’s not particularly crunchy about this is that it uses Modge Podge or similar (and I’m not sure what’s in Modge Podge). It’s just grainy and doesn’t dry clearly. Boo. BUT, if you can overlook that one minor issue, I think you’ll love this. And it will be glorious. Here’s how you do it. First, you need to go to Home Depot, Lowes, or something like it. (FYI, I found that Lowes prices on tiles were cheaper than Home Depot. I like the stone tiles, because they have texture. So you pick out your tiles in the sizes you want. And then you get home and gather what you need. Cut them out. Go go go! Love me?
Cake postcard tutorial Supplies Materials needed to make two cake postcards: 1 large sponge (yellow paints the best)Serrated knifeX-Acto or utility knifeSpray paint (brown, yellow, pink or white)1 tube acrylic latex caulk (brown, cream or white)Spray adhesive (3M Super 77 works great!)Cardboard, kraft paper or scrapbook paper Instructions Cut sponge into wedge shape With a serrated knife, using a sawing motion, cut a sponge into two, cake wedge shapes. Cut a center groove into sponge Using an X-Acto or utility knife, cut a section of foam from the center of the sponge. Paint the sponge wedges in desired color. Trace the slice of cake When the sponge wedges are dry, trace around them on a piece of cardboard, kraft paper or colorful scrapbook paper. Spray glue the postcards to the solid, flat sides of the sponge wedges. Using a caulking gun and your desired caulk, fill a plastic disposable piping bag with half of the caulk. Pipe the center of the cake Pipe the icing on the top Note from the editor This totally works!

The Easiest Pillow Cover Ever This is the easiest pillow cover ever. No measuring! No sewing! Just fold and tie. You need a piece of fabric 3 times as wide plus a few more inches and twice as tall plus a few more inches as the pillow. Place the pillow in the center, on the wrong side of the fabric. I used pinking shears to cut the fabric so it wouldn’t fray. Then fold the top down to the center. Fold both ends like the picture. Bring one side over the top of the pillow. Then the other side. Now tie the ends in a square knot. Ta-Da! I love the knot. And it looks great on the loveseat. It even looks great on the back if I want to switch sides. I’m linking to these awesome blog parties:
