Nail Art Alert: How to Get a Real Feather Manicure at Home (So Pretty!): Girls in the Beauty Department I bought these feathers a few weeks ago and I knew they'd make a gorgeous mani. Here's how to recreate the look. It'll cost you waaaay less than what you'd pay in the salon! You will need: A base color. I chose Essie's Glamour Purse. Two top coats. Before you start, prepare all of the feathers you plan to use by cutting off the ends. Paint on your base color, let it dry, then add a coat of your thick clear top coat. While the clear coat is still tacky, carefully place the feather on to your nail. When that's completely dry, apply a few coats of your fast drying top coat. Once that's dry, use scissors or cuticle clippers to trim off most of the excess feather hanging off the end of your nail. You can remove what's left with a nail file which also leaves you with a nice smooth edge. I like to clean up around my cuticles with pure acetone and a small paintbrush, especially after piling on all that top coat! And here's the result... What do you think of this manicure idea?

23 things to make from old t-shirts Today, I am tackling my kid's wardrobes and culling their clothes right back to basics. I've been so very, very lucky to have received a lot of hand-me-downs for both of them over the years and I quite happily accept them. Probably when they were little and at home, I might've gone through 2 or 3 sets of clothes, espcially after meal times or toilet training mishaps. Produce bags Placemats Rainbow rug Bangles Dishcloths Baby nappy/diaper covers Loop rug I'd like to get started on one of those quilts especially to use up some of the kid's logo t-shirts from Kindergarten and some of those goofy slogan t-shirts like "Grandma told me to do it" or "Mummy is the best" or something. Hope you get some inspiration from some of these ideas.

Don’t hide your eyes with what I am about to reveal to you… this is real. Yes, these are how horrible my lips were getting. The solution? So here is an at home remedy to exfoliate and condition your smackers with ingredients you have around the house. Grab some coconut oil, brown sugar, and honey. Combine 1 tsp. of each. I added a little almond extract just because the smell makes me happy. Mix them until you get a paste-like substance. Note: I found these little bead containers work perfect for keeping my scrub in the fridge. And what did I use? xo

How to: 1) We do not massage our hair enough! Scalp massage is essential in this process. On clean shampooed hair (shampoo of your choice), towel dry your hair and massage hair with distilled white vinegar for approximately 15 minutes. Use approximately 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar for this process and add more if necessary. 2) DO NOT RINSE; after massaging with distilled white vinegar, take a tablespoon of rosemary oil (used to promote hair growth for centuries) and massage all areas of the head - for thicker hair use another tablespoon. **Massaging the scalp is the key here - take your time and be thorough! Sometimes the drugstore makeup that you read fantastic reviews of in fashion magazines actually sucks and the writer raving about it didn't love it at all -- or even try it! It's on that magazine page because it's a new launch from the company who "bought" the back cover, being endorsed by the actress with the symmetrical face and the squeaky-clean reputation. (FACT: Beauty companies rarely go with an edgy spokeswoman no matter how huge her celebrity, because it hurts the brand when she's inevitably photographed looking puffy and hung over with a cigarette in her mouth, then ridiculed accordingly by Perez Hilton.) In a recent past life, I was one of those magazine editors. Sometimes I lied. But at least now I get to disclose the drugstore makeup I really, actually love -- the stuff I use every day and know to be outstanding. I didn't know what the hell this was all about when I first tried it -- a lavender-ish pink cream that you wear on your dark circles? Ummm, OK.
