DIY envelope clutch (vintage romper, river island feather headband) I’ve been wanting an oversized clutch for a while now, especially since I laid eyes on that Celine clutch shot by Tommy Ton for style.com. Its minimalism is so beautiful. Then, I saw the Clare Vivier La Pochette on ofakind.com and instantly knew what my next DIY would be. Here's How To Actually Eat Healthier This Year say YES! to hoboken: DIY Purple Striped Market Tote Last year I made a striped beach tote and this year I found some perfect purple striped canvas weight fabric at my local fabric outlet for only $4 a yard and knew I wanted to make another version. Would you like to learn how to make one too? Okay! 9. Sewing Room Easel Organizer Scanning through your comments on our recent New Year's Resolutions article, the number one category of goals seems to be "organization." Here's a great project to start with that can help tidy up the area right next to your trusty sewing machine. We've designed a handy organizer to sit on an easel stand where it can hold a few important items as well as act as a clipboard for instructions or patterns you may need to refer to while sewing. The basic design is similar to a large envelope but we've incorporated two different types of interfacing for the best stability without adding too much stiffness or weight. The top flap has a tidy angled edge and is snugged into place and help with self-stick Velcro®. There's also a handy pocket panel across the center that can hold glasses, pattern notes, a pen and more. The 11" height is perfect to clip an instructional print out (from Sew4Home of course!). We chose an artist's canvas board for our stiffener. Fusing Complete and place the pocket
MADE: TUTORIAL: the Hobo Sack Whether you’re on the road or hanging at home, every hobo needs a bag for his (or her) treasures. Those little corners down there that are cut out is what gives you “room” in the bottom of your bag. Take those two corners that are cut out and fold them up to each other: like this: and sew it down. When you’re done, it should look like this: and Enjoy!
How to Hem Jeans and Keep the Original Hem--EASY tutorial {Fun Friday} Welcome back to Fun Friday! I've been wanting to share this tip of how to hem jeans and keep the original hem for months now. Months! My sewing machine had some issues and I couldn't figure out how to fix it so my good post idea sat tucked away in my brain. Every single time I would put on a pair of jeans I would think to myself, "I need to tell my readers about this life-changing way to hem jeans!" Step 1: Figure out how much you need to hem Try on the pair of jeans and roll the cuff up to how much you want off the bottom. Important: When you are pinning the jeans make sure to carefully line up the stitching/seams on the sides of the jeans. Step 2: Sew! Important: Make sure you do not sew through the front and back sides of the jean (not that I'm speaking from experience)! Step 3: Turn the legs of the jean right side out. You can see the arrow pointing to the 2 1/4 inches that we hemmed. You can see in the picture where we sewed...but just barely. P.S.

Step 4: Places both sets of fabric with the pressed under edges on top of the zipper and sew together. Step 5: Fold the two sides right sides of the exterior fabric together.
