Tips for Adding the Right Images to Your E-Learning Content Who doesn’t like pictures? I like pictures. Pictures are fun. They add interest, they add depth and they are able to say a whole heck of a lot more than I am at a fraction of the word count. Sounds like a win/win situation, right? After all, this is not a one kind fits all kind of thing. In short, you want this images you choose to enhance the quality of your E-Learning environment rather than distract from it. This will get you the audio component of the meeting. Then you can perhaps use a standard screen sharing application you can test: WizIQ, TeamViewer or try one of these: You could stream your screen via an IP but the location of the live stream would need to be located at the optimum middle location to provide the best results. I got to say, I have been having alot of success with high quality meetings using a combination of Skype and Logmein.com. All the best, Kevin Brake eLearningShow.com

Education for Well-being » Insulat-Ed As the scope and quality of learning that can happen outside of institutional groups continues to increase, the educational hegemony of traditional schools continues to decrease. In Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations, Clay Shirky writes, “Now that there is competition to traditional institutional forms for getting things done, those institutions will continue to exist, but their purchase on modern life will weaken as novel alternatives for group action arise.” I’ve been reading Shirky’s book, thinking about how some of his general ideas on institutions apply to schools. In the following excerpt, I’ve replaced some key words with my own: A scribe [school], someone [an institution] who has given his life over [whose mission is] to literacy [education] as a cardinal virtue, would be conflicted about the meaning of movable type [free-forming educational networks]. code: jtarbell learn more The paradigm below is the simplest one for most schools to adopt.

Blog Photo: Mike with a group of Scholars at Villiers Park in 2011. It was an overcast day for the memorial service but with the numbers in excess of 300, the wonderful tributes, poems and live jazz music all added up to an incredible service in memory of Mike. For me and the girls all the anxiety and organising was worthwhile. Thank you so much to everyone who came, gave tributes, or thought about Mike from afar. It was all so special and we will hold the day in our hearts forever. Thank you also for all the generous donations. We are very happy that Villiers Park Educational Trust is to honour Mike’s memory by establishing a fund that will help disadvantaged young students aged 14-19 participate in their educational activities. 9 comments - read and reply .
